Bah! Tint Ticket

So after having my car tinted with 20% for almost 2 years, i got pulled over by a Charlotte-Mecklenburg cop and we wrote me ticket.

Does anybody know an easy way to get it dropped? It is a "Fix-It option" ticket, That means if i strip the tint, they drop the charges. But I really dont want to strip off the tint.......i think that will be more mess than its worth. My other option is pay the ticket and hope i dont get caught again, but thats $171

Advice anyone?

$171??!!!!

I know that in new jersey its not one of those fix-it deals. you pay the ticket and strip the tint. i know in NC 35% is the darkest legally allowed.

im not sure what the tint laws are in nc but it seems like you already know your options. pay the ticket, fix-it, or become compliant with the NC tint laws. the easy way to get it dropped is to fix-it.

i think you can get any % tint if you really want to, but most places carry things like 50%, 35%, 20%, etc.
most auto glass has a few % tint to it when manufactured
so, if you got 35% tint on an already slightly tinted piece of glass, you'd be just under 35% transparency.
basically, the lowest you can go on the film is 35%

in most cases you wont get that excuse. im legally blind and i tried getting one. they said they couldnt cause police were having issues with people with tint and they didnt think it was a good enough reason or some shit.

lol well if you're legally blind, OKing you to put very dark tint on your car windows is probably not a good move for them to make

im an expert on receiving window tint tickets and the best thing i did was become friends with a cop. whenever i got one i would try and find him but sometimes i just sucked it up and paid the fine. its way to much of a hassle to have them taken off. sucks u got a ticket for only having 20%!

my tint is legal in NJ, so i cant get ticketed for it. however, when i bring my car to Virginia, the 5% is too dark.

i know! it doesnt really look THAT dark, you can still see shadows of everything inside. I think i just came across a cop that was having a bad day.

i think your best bet is, roll up with your windows down nd pay the ticket, go on your merry way. nd if you ever get pulled over again just say you took it off got it again with lighter tint.

im pretty sure they cant give you a tint ticket if your not registered in their state, but ill be passing through VA in the next two weeks so i guess we'll see. 5% all around, 2 layers of 25% in the back..this could be fun.

tint is overrated. I like to roll my windows down anyways, in the warm months. If its too hot inside, use AC.

theres only two legal options. either pay the fine and risk being pulled over again or take the tint off and pay the fix it amount.

now as for the other options....

it gets pretty hot up here too, especially July and August. We don't live in ingloos all year round you know? you forgot cheese curds...and it's called poutine, best junk food in the world.
as for global warming, blame your government and people that drive gas guzzling SUVs to work.

I have black leather and black panels now, it does get warm, so i'd know that feeling.

why the hell would you do that?? when you can legally have 15% on your back windows?? what happens when that same cop comes up to your window or pulls us next to you instead. if you put 3% on the front windows and thats illegal why not just tint 3% all around and call it day. did you have someone tint it this way or was the tint already on there?? sorry i guess its better than riding in a fishbowl but it sounds pretty funny.

Hmm, I was pretty sure they can, but I've been wrong before. You might want to check into it.

I've driven through VA dozens of times (actually leaving for VA in a few minutes, though not in the CL) and I've never had a problem - never even pulled over in VA. Granted, I only have 20% on the back window and 35% on the 4 sides, so it's not nearly as dark as yours. But I do have blacked out taillights, so I guess I have kind of expected problems.

i was acually pulled over last week during the night for tinted windows, i have 5% back 3 windows and 20%'s in front sides. the officer told me that it was illegal to have Tinted windows, i told him i got to prevent from sunburn, ect ect..he asked me if i had doctors note for it(which i dont have), i told him maybe i should get one. anyways, let me go w/ a warning and not to let him catch me w/ tints again, from that point on, everytime i see cops around, i roll my windows down and hope for the best and not get stoped.

ive given up on putting em down and just roll with em up. well it depends on how im feeling that day. and sunburn? come on man, thats the worst excuse. say you have bad eyes at night and the glare hurts your eyes, or you have extremely sensitive skin, one time i went with that i was a professional snowboarder and i needed it for privacy, you can come up with some of the dumbest shit. The one time i told him i bought the car with tint and didnt know it was illegal. sometimes playing dumb works...or being dumb.
