Air intakes

Hey people what up,
I'm lookin around for a sweet air intake. I also don't want one that's loud but does give good performance.
Which brands out there would you consider to be top notch?
I got buddies of mine that say a regular K+N universal cone air filter does the job pretty well. Is this right?
Questions answered would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

SatinSilverCL

im running a OBX cold air intake i got for 110 bucks. works fine. people say the filter is what makes the difference. most people swear by AEM, but i think they all do the same.

look for a AEM cold air if anything. they seem to be most popular. Injen is also good. do you want cold air or short ram?

Really doesn't matter if cold air or not...again, as long as it ain't too loud.

for 2.3. not sure, most likely 98 honda accord parts. did you read that thread on top of the page? it has alot of helpful stuff in there and before the guys start telling you to "Search the Newbie thread you newbie!!" good luck

ok forget that. i think they are updating that thread. just look for accord parts in the same year. everything should match up.

there is only one major curve in the intakes for CL's, therefore its pretty hard to mess up an intake. If you can afford an AEM or Injen, go for it, but just a cheap intake will be just as effective in my mind.

i would get an AEM or injen... the 3.0 intake is hard to mess up... only 1 90 degree bend.... the 2.3 is a bit trickier it is double bent... but all in all pretty much the same as the generic ones.

watch out for shipping costs.

forget whatever I just said you already bought one im stupid.

exactly

CAI= more peak power, quiter under wot, louder humm at idle
Short ram= more power down low, louder under wot, quiter humm at idle. also short rams creat a nice growl sound superior to a cai by far.

94-97 cord for 2.2 and 2,3cl
98-01 cord for 3.0cl

positive well when comparing aem cai to aim sr. anyone with with a 2.2 or 2.3 with a cai can tell u their car is more sluggish off the line. the longer tubing is what causes it.

the aem v2 is kinda the best of both worlds. i had aem cai and now v2 and im much happier with the v2.

The aem V2 is the best thing out there right now....but....I simply bought a cheap short ram intake kit say $40 and then attached a K&N filter: $35 and I can't sing the praises enough. It is deep sounding gives me high, low, and mid power and it cost me alot less then the V2 or even a regular AEM. As far as cold air intakes go I wouldn't get one unless you were an avid racer. I have heard too many horror stories of people sucking up water, and yes some did have that aem check valve thinggy. I live in the south east and right now I swear its like the f-ing wet season of malaysia and just last week I had to float my car across a lake(large puddle of water in the middle of the road).

Aight it is RU-3570, you can go to an autozone or advance auto. They will have to order it but you will not have to pay for their shipping. it takes about 2-3 days

oh nevermind thought you had a CAI...

tubing should be same diameter so u just got to check out the part catalog for the dimensions of the filter.

No, the filter has a 3" opening which is the common size of most intakes, short ram and cold-air. The reason I picked this filter is simply for its dimensions, the dims of the model filter are the closest to the common conical intake filter

exactly what ju5tchi11in said

Is there the issue with water possibly getting in the motor if you have a V2?

I say get some 4" dryer hose and drill it through your hood, then make an airscoop out of plywood painted black and screw the bish on there, you don't need a filter either, don't listen to anybody here, filters just restrict airflow, k and n = waste of money
