New CL owner, Window problem...

Hey guys-

I just bought a '97 2.2CL last week, and no sooner than I get the plates switched over, the driver side power window quit working.

I took the door apart, and the cable that is attached to the power unit has somehow disconnected (broken piece somewhere?). As you know, it's not too easy to see around to the inside of the door. I bought the Chilton manual, and it does not help at all.

Is there an easy way to reconnect those cables to get the window working again? The window motor is making a couple funny noises, so maybe I should replace all of it at the same time. And I'm fairly mechanically inclined, so should I do it myself or take it to a shop?

Please give all your thoughts/suggestions.

Thanks

KLepto is right. Do it yourself and save the money and time. If you take it to the dealer you will be without your car for a day at least and out $250 - $350.

its not very hard....have the window almost half way down where u can see the bolts throw all the hoes. it will help if u have another person to hold it in place for u. should only take about 30min max.

Is the regulator the entire motor/cable/window attachment piece? Because the motor does work still, but the cable ends are not attached to the bracket attached to the window. I'm worried that if I buy the motor, I still won't be able to attach the cable.

hey man, you can get them on ebay for about $60 bucks (all one piece)... Just look under 94-97 accord, it you cant find any under CL. Make sure it is 2 door though... Just replaced mine a month ago. The hardest part is getting the door panel back on, so its a pretty easy job. Good luck.

Thanks for all the help guys. I can handle the door panel part, so I should be able to do this.

But one more question: Do I have to remove the window? Because it looks like a pain to put the bolts on that bracket that slides up and down the center channel, and to bolt the motor in there. Maybe there's a hole in the panel, I don't have it off right now, so I can't check.

You dont have to remove the window. Start with you window almost all the way down. Take out speaker. Take out two bolts that go into plastic that window slides up and down on. Then push the window all the way up and out of the way. I used a piece of masking tape to make sure it stayed up. Then two top bolts, and two bottom bolts are all that holds the actuator in, remove those and the three that hold motor, and your out.

Just wanted to thank you guys for your help. Got the regulator today, and once I found the right socket, it took hardly any time at all. Let's just hope the other side doesn't quit working now.
