AEM Pulley kits?

Hello everyone, I have some extra money and I was wondering what everyone thought of the true power pulley kit. Is htis a good mod? What are the disadvantages to this? Are there certain things that I won't be able to do if I get them? (What is the worst thing that could happen and why). And lastly, are they hard to install? Thanks in advance.

No negatives. I would recommend this upgrade second to only a CAI. I had to have the alternator pulley taken off with an impact wrench but no problems other than that.

I had heard that if you have to many things running on your car then something can happen. For example the A/C, FOGS, subs, stereo, interior lights, etc. Is this true?

I do this all the time. The only thing that I can imagine happening is your battery dying out earlier.

Got Rice, under your mod list you don't show a pulley kit. Do you have one but you have not listed it? I meant I had heard bad things could happen if you had a pulley kit and you ran everything. Let me know, thanks in advance

Nope...Don't have one.

Wouldn't those void your warranty cause your messing with your engine directly?

That is another thing that I am wondering about. Will it void the warranty? Thanks in advance.

THE pulley kit does put pressure on a part of the engine that i can't remeber. But i was going to get the cheap upgrade but when i was told this by my mechanic, i didn't purchase. Don't do little things, just save your $$$ and get a turbo!!!!!!=) Its worth it....LAterZ

I'd only do it if you could leave the crank pulley stock. Inline fours and V6's are an inherently unbalanced design. The crank pulley is big & heavy because it is a harmonic dampener designed to cancel the vibrations from the motor. If you replace it with a lightweight racing pulley, you're subjecting the crankshaft to a lot of vibrations.

However, if these pulley kits just replace the accessory pullies, I'd say they're perfectly safe.

My buddy works for FORD SVT and he said the exact same thing to me when I asked him about pulleys.

Does a CAI void a warranty? And why is this tops on everyones list of mods to make. What are the advantages to having a CAI? Last one, what types of mods void a warranty and which do not? Thanx

Any mods affecting the engine directly usually voids the warranty (Cams, ECU, etc).

Mods modifying air flow...aka CAI, Headers, Exhaust do not.

CAI is probably the first thing you want to do cause its cheap and easy compared to the amount of HP/torque gain. Plus it allows for other mods...like exhaust. You wouldn't want to put an exhaust first because if its not sucking in that much more air, then there isn't that much more air to release, etc. etc. (Not saying it won't help, just saying it would be more practical) :P

Hope that helps.

It's up to the dealer to prove that the mod caused the failure... so if you put in a CAI and you blow a shock, then that's covered. If you have an AFC and you lean it out way too much and blow up the motor, that's not covered.

Here's why:

-Sleeper look
-Easy transportation of my racing tires to & from the track
-Rear window washer/wiper (to wave goodbye to people that thought they were faster than me)
-More neutral handling than sedan
-Just as fast as the sedan
-$500 cheaper than sedan
