Interior lights (door, dome, vanity, etc) & license plate lights -> LED conversion

Anyone else thinking about doing this?

I'm definitely going to do it as soon as I figure out which bulbs to buy.. are they the same as the 1st gen TSX?

White LEDs + my ebony interior =

I have a small concern, on my 1st gen 06, I had the leds in the front map lights but found that they were constantly on, even when I switched them off. This happened in my old car as well and only happens with leds, once I put in a regular bulb, its fine. The bulbs are superwhite btw. Thanks for any help..

Thanks for the great post, Manitou. Question...how well do the LEDs work thru the dimming-range? The original lights fade in/out. Do your LEDs also fade?

How well do they fade in/out? Smoothly or is there noticeable graduations in the dim-level?

I changed all the lights on my tsx to LED's, including the dome light, map light, reverse lights, license plate lights, tail lights, and door lights. All the LED's are white except the door lights and the tail lights which i made red. It looks much cleaner and more modern and the fade is just like the stock bulbs. All the lights are pretty easy to install except the license plate lights which manitou showed pretty well in his post. The rest are really just snap-ons so the bulbs are easy to install

I bought my bulbs from www.superbrightleds.com. You can look up your bulbs on their website they give you all the bulbs for your car and you can just use the 08 tsx cuz it has the same bulbs as the 09. Your bulb types will also be in your owner's manual.

much.

LEDs last longer than cfl's too.
but that has nothing to do with cars.

the smart consumers will have all LED lighting in their homes soon.

Just replaced all the bulbs with LEDs...very nice. I was originally thinking of going w/blue instead of white. Really glad I didn't. The white gives off a nice "techno-bluish" tint (could be the black leather casting a "reflective tint").

One issue tho was the rear map light. I used:
36mm 3175 High Power LED (HID White) Festoon Bulb (as recommended)

This bulb was just a bit too long. The fit is not a pretty sight. But, seems to work.

I'm very happy with the results...so glad I didn't lease!

A few pics of the front, inside...showing the map lights and front door lights. The lights cast a slight bluish tint (cold temperature) instead of the stock (warm temp) lights. It almost matches the LED backlighting of the speedometer and keyhole circle. Fade in/out is just like stock as mentioned before (i.e., no graduated levels!).

With tinted windows and LEDs, the cabin has a very high-tech ambience...which i thought is how this car is supposed to be. I was disappointed by the choice of stock lighting.

I just did all of my interior lights, and I got to say it looks pretty mint with the ebony interior. The map lights were buggers for me to get out, but I eventually got it.

I would post pics but I think soundneedle's pics are more than enough to show off how good these lights look.

I've read that someone needed help with the back dome light. There is a little tab in the back where you stick a flathead into the little crack. Apply slight pressure to pop it out and the whole plastic covering should pop right out. I purchased my lights at ijdmtoy.com and superbrightleds.com... I have blue interior dome lights... white door panel lights... white trunk lights.. white liscense plates lights.. I am thinking about repurchasing the liscense plates lights because they look kinda dim due to the slant of the lighting position. also the trunk light as well. Does anyone know how to change the glove compartment light? I'll post pix up soon. Can anyone teach me how to post up pix?

and manitou, can you take a picture of your TRUNK and LISCENSE plates during the night time? I want to compare my bulb to your bulb. I don't think my bulb is bright enough. Its LED white but I feel that because of the tilt of the light, it doesnt project as bright as the other lights. Thanks!

Did you buy your license plate lights from superbrightleds.com? If so which part number did you buy? I was thinking about getting all my lights there but i might look somewhere else if the plate lights aren't that bright.

Nice birthday too, same as mine but I'm 1984
