Does anyone know of a software upgrade to allow phones that currently are not compatable usable via the TL? I have a 2004 TL and I cannot use my Verizion Wireless LG Chocolate 8550 that is not compatible.

I would have thought there was a software upgrade, my phone is newer than the car but will not work and Acura 800# stated there is no upgrade. If anyone knows a way to upgrade and could pass on that information I would appreciate it?

The Nokia E71 will pair with the car easily and will provide caller ID battery and signal info. Unfortunately the HFL has trouble placing calls using the phone. When trying to place a call the HFL hangs till End button on phone is pressed or phone is powered off. Calls can be placed and transferred to HFL once the call has been connected. Incoming calls work flawlessly. Phone data connection will not function. Car is unable to confirm data connection. I have not attempted to transfer phone book.
To sum it up, great looking phone, nice features but with current software release not compatible with 07 Type S

For what it's worth the Motorola V750 pairs with my 2005 TL and shows signal and battery strength. Interestingly, it also shows the "R" for roaming even when I'm not roaming. Someone else posted that he was having a similar issue with a different phone. No bid deal, but worth mentioning.

I had the same problem with my choc. 8550, wouldn't work! I ended up selling it on e bay and getting a choc. 8500, same thing just the older model. Works perfectly and I made $75 to buy my new puddle lights!

3G iPhone and 08 TL w/Navi - pairing problems?

I just tried to pair a new 3G iPhone with my car (08 TL, navi). It paired fine, and I made one test call. But I could not end the call ... the 'end' button (steering wheel) was ignored. I ended up turning off the car. I then restarted the car; tried to initiate a call ('Call 511') but car said, 'no phone found' or similar. So I tried to pair again, but it said '6 phones already paired' (I've successfully paired 5 others, and the iPhone was the 6th). So I deleted the iPhone pair, and started again.

Second time around, it would get stuck right after "Phone Setup" and "Pair". I again had to turn off the car completely. I tried about 5 times, and gave up. Once I gave up, I powered back up my trusty Motorola Q, which worked flawlessly. I've also had no problems (pairing/etc wise) with a samsung blackjack, palm treo 700w, and a few others. This is a real bummer because I was all set to buy the iPhone but successful pairing and operation with my 08 TL is essential ... I use it all the time!

Are there updates to the phone that will fix this? If updates to the car are required, will they do that for free under warranty?

Has any one gotten any info on this new phone yet? I scheduled to come out on Oct 22nd. Its trying to hit the market and offer as much as the 3G IPhone but for less cost and not all the issues.
http://www.t-mobileg1.com/default.aspx

Im pretty sure Im going to get it. My old Sony Ericsson S170a has seen better days, and its time for an upgrade. If anybody knows compatablility issus, cool if not I will be doing my own indepentant study on it.

Motorola W376g or LG 600G

Has anyone been able to successfully pair either a Motorola W376g or LG 600G from TracFone? I have a 2004 TL and am wondering if either of these would work with HFL.

Just got the HTC Diamond Pro this weekend and paired it to my 04 TL.
Works like a charm. Even shows the Signal Strength and Battery!!!!!!! They finally got it right. Now if they will only fix the TouchFlo speed.

Just in case it's worthwhile to know, my N95-1 paired without issue to my 2006 TL no navi.

I see battery/signal... I don't notice callerID but maybe because so far I prefer to use windshield mount for the full screen picture caller id.

Just annoyed I can't dial from my phone an auto transfer to the car handsfreelink

Yeah I got the G1! It does pair with the TL just fine. I have an 04 TL 6MT. I am absolutely loving this phone. It doesn't look at sleek or as sexy as the iphone but when it comes to capabilities, it is blowin the iphone out the water. The 3G network is fairly swift and with the open platform the possibilities are practically endless.

In the market for a new phone. My carrier is AT&T. Does anyone know if the Samsung Eternity links up? What about the 3g Iphone?

Also looking at the BB Bold, but it's out of my price range right now.

okay i am answering my own question here...the Sony Ericsson W760 does work perfectly with 2004 Acura TL. Shows signal strength and battery life on the dash, and answers and hangs up as it is supposed to, no problems to report after a week of use.

Unhappy What do you do when you find phone incompatibility?

Does anyone have any suggesstions that may help me? I have an LG VX8700 through Verison. I bought the phone about 10 months ago. I didn't buy the warranty. I was stupid enough to think that all bluetooth enabled phones would work with my 05 TL. I didn't pair it until July. It worked fine for about a month. It then started dropping calls and the TL voice would say "the bluetooth connection has been lost". When it pairs, I get signal strength, battery power, the number dialed and incoming number on the screen; however, the phone icon now appears and disappears constantly. The voice frequently says "no phones have been found". Yet sometimes the phone will work for an entire conversation.

The problem is that I went to www.handfreelink.com and found that this model is "not compatible" with my 05 TL. I took the car to the dealer and they said, there's nothing they can do. My contract has another 14 months on it. Has anyone run into this problem with this or another phone? I'm about to call Version, but I fear they will tell that I can upgrade but that it will cost me full price for the new phone or charge me for getting out of the contract with this phone. I don't know if they let you change phones (to one that's bluetooth compatible with your car) and keep the current contract or .... Does anyone have any suggestions? At least I learned a lesson about assuming. Thanks.

This is my one big disappointment with the car so far....

Buy a replacement phone on EBay. I do it often. Just make sure the seller has good feedback. Verizon doesn't care what phone you use as long as it is compatible with their system.

I am thinking about getting a Samsung Omnia i910 smart phone with Verizon. Does anyone know if it will work with a 2007 TL type S. Handsfreelink.com doesn't show it in either pending or approved categories.

Any thoughts?

Samsung Instinct

To those with the Instinct:

I have had mine paired for about 5 months now. I am having a couple of issues:
1. When I dial out from the phone itself (not from the voice-command), it often takes several seconds before it comes through the HFL. Oftentimes, the person has already answered.
2. Sometimes calls just simply drop out of the HFL. The Instinct still shows it paired up, but there is nothing coming through the speakers and I have to "disconnect" on the Instinct and then can only talk through the phone (unless I tell the HFL to "transfer", and it does).

Is anyone else experiencing this? I have a 2007 TL w Nav.
THanks

Hi

I paired a LG Shine with my Acura TL 2004.
The pair it self was not a problem, but I have a lot of echo.
My old Nokia did not have any problem, so I am thinking to buy a Nokia again.

Good luck

Anyone ever successfully pair Nokia 5800 (I think it is called music express) or Samsung Behold? I am debating between the two but couldn't find onfo on HFL link about compatibility. Thanks.

Thumbs up Motorola Q9 3G Works Great With 2008 TL NAV

I upgraded from the Motorola V3XX to the new Motorola Q9 PDA and I had no problem with paring the bluetooth with the new PDA. Also my original phone list in the hands free unit was accessable from the Q9.

I did note that incoming calls ring on the PDA as well as the HF announcement.
I have not yet figured out how to turn that piece off.

Follow up .. both Samsung Behold and Nokia 5800 pair successfully, but no phonebook transfer, so strictly for blue-tooth purpose only. However, both show battery status and service bars.

I have been able to pair the LG VX8600. But now my comapny is issuing PDA/smartphones. My choice is the Samsung Saga and the LG XV6800. The Saga is being tested, and the LG is not listed on the HFL site. If anyone has success with either, please let me know.

'08 TL with Verizon.
