Wish I could put the tailgate back on, the clips holding it broke and while we were driving it fell off. My hubby ran to get it but stupid drivers behind us ran over it, so it is useless now.
A new tailgate costs $1,000 (just for the part) so we are trying to fix the FM radio inside the car with an radio adapter.
Any ideas for the radio?
Any alternatives for replacing the tailgate section for less than $1,000?
Let me see if I have this correct. Your tailgate fell off and but you are still driving it without a tailgate but you are trying to get the radio to work?
That's almost as hilarious as my friend who was worried about spilling his soda on my leather after we totaled my M3 into a wall.
No its not the WHOLE TAILGATE!!! It is the part that has the brake light and hole for the back windshield washer fluid like the picture below. The part that SITS AT THE TOP of the window!

Clear as mud now?!
Well, I came to the conclusion that the tailgate fell off only because that was what you wrote in your first post. Wasn't trying to make fun or anything but I was just wondering why the radio working was of importance when I assumed the entire tailgate was missing. Only now it is clear as mud.

No worries, I used the wrong word to describe it.
The radio stopped working when that spoiler fell off.
My initial question is about fixing the radio adapter.
Thanks for the part info, unfortunately the company doesn't ship outside USA. And with COVID I cannot cross the border to get it.
You have to remove a little bit of the headliner to access it. Follow the wire to the the tailgate end and you'll find the broken wire/antenna. You can probably replace it from that part or plug it into the antenna amplifier.
