Has anybody ever had problems receiving any AM reception on their radio. I have a 2000 Acura 3.2TL and the radio does not get any AM reception. Any help or suggestions on how to fix it would be appreciated.

A lot of radios have a built-in ferrite core rod antenna that works independent of the FM antenna that's plugged in. Not sure if our radios have that.

But now is a perfect time to bitch about the radio. Where is HD support? Where is full 10khz AM bandwidth? AM stereo? The newer radios which support HD are now including the old AM stereo decoding too.

Don't know if this is your problem but I have heard some tints mess with your radio reception especially AM.

My AM reception always sucked, and it did afterwards with a aftermarket radio as well. But thats ok for me since i rarely ever turn off Sirius sat radio

I honestly dont even think I have once used AM radio. I have no idea what the presets are either. Hm now im going to have to try it next time I get in the car.

On our cars, the antenna s in therear window. Are your windows tinted? I have friends that tint, and some tint is metalized so it doesnt fade. Black tint can still be metalized, not just silver tint. Anyways, when cars are done with this and the antenna is in the rear window (like ours), it interferes with AM reception. They have taken this type of tint off numerous cars because of this.

Had the same problem earlier this year.. AM used to work fine and then started get bad reception on AM only (would come in and out sometimes) never completely clear ... FM kept coming in fine.roblem turned out to be antenna cable that runs under the carpet in the centre of the floor ...cable is a small coax (maybe RG174 not sure) that had an intermittent connection. I only found it after fiddling around. I think it may have been broken by a bar-b-que propane tank that I carried to be filled in the summer. Hope that this helps

Did you have to replace the wire then or was it just disconnected or something... and yes I do have tint but I bought the non metalized tint so that shouldn't be the problem. Also the AM reception didn't work before i put the tint on either.
