Here the tire jack with wood shields are installed between the a-arm & the body. Make sure the jack is positioned on the a-arm such that it will cause the a-arm to swing down and NOT put force against the pivot point. If positioned properly it does not take much force to cause the a-arm to swing or move down. As one can see the wood protected the a-arm & frame from damage but nothing protected the jack from my massive strength...#@$#. In reality the coupler on the jack bent with very little side pressure applied. Make sure you use a large shaft through both holes of the coupler as the metal is really soft and very little side pressure here will bend it.
