Help request with Blind Spot Indicator

Hi All,

I have a "check blind spot indicator light" warning light. I took my car to the dealer and then scanned it myself. Hoping to get help from you all.

Dealership said their scans showed "ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM MILLIMETER WAVE RADAR DETECT UNSTABLE" code 85 in the CMBS because the front lens is cloudy and deteriorated, but when he tested power and ground to the module itself there was intermittent continuity. You can try replacing the front lens to see if that remedies, but it would be a $1500 gamble if it would work or not. "

When I scanned the odbII, I got the following codes:
  1. B18BC - lost communication with left side BSI sensor
  2. B18B7 - lost communication with right side BSI
  3. B18BC - communication bus line error on local CAN

Dealer said work to replace the BSI would be $7500.

I have a 2012 ZDX with 95k miles.

Thank you.

Not sure how different the BSI modules and codes are different from the RLX. A 14 RLX owner had a similar issue and it turned out to be a broken seal around the BSI module and it had corrosion inside the unit causing the issue:

I haven't looked at the ZDX BSI part numbers and if the part is plug-n-play replacement. I would check to see if the 10-13 MDX Adv have the same BSI module as the ZDX Adv as an option? I would look on eBay or salvage yards for the part. My 11 MDX had a cloudy ACC/CMBS front grill cover. It didn't effect the system until it got covered with snow or winter road muck. I don't see why you couldn't use the exact same headlight polish to eliminate the UV hazing. If not, eBay/salvage yard for a replacement ACC/CMBS grill cover.

Thank you for the video/photo. I'll try that as a fix first.

That is a good idea. I'll check the fix actions for the same year MDX. I'll get back to the group with the results as soon as I get a chance over the next few weeks.

Hi All,

It's been a few months (about Dec. 2023) since I posted. The problem with the Blind Spot error went away by itself by late Jan 2024. Just one day I noted that the problem went from intermittent to constantly showing an error to completely going away. Now the BSM functions as expected when an object large enough triggers the sensor.

I have no clue what fixed it. However, I share my experience in the event you all experience something similar.

Thank you.
