And I keep getting the same thing from many people about that forum, not just you either.

What do you drive? Wonder if I see you around and don't realize it.
It's brutal. And I can't believe how harsh people are to one another on that forum. Mods let a lot go on that site.

And it seems it's always the same thing- speed traps are stupid. Speed limits should be raised because we are hella awesome drivers and those who can't keep up shouldn't be allowed to drive. Licensing needs to be like Europe (even though 98% of the guys have never been to Europe, and even less have taken a driver's test there). Conservatives are the best. NDP/Liberals/Green Party will ruin Alberta and the country and the world.

Etc, etc.

You can still go to the meets. You can even see when they are scheduled, without even signing up. You should be able to see them posted, even if you're a guest.

I drive an Anthracite grey '06 6MT TL and a supercharged '07 dark blue Miata on white wheels.

Yea I am north side too. Cherry Grove area there on 167th.

I know what you mean about 780, most of the guys there are old guys who have known each other for years and years and anyone new is just an outcast. That's why I rarely post on there and just read dumb arguments when I am bored.
My folks live in McLeod Park, just on the other side of 66th street. I grew up in that hood

I'm not too far away, just a bit closer to Manning.

This x1000. From the 20 mins I spent browsing the forum, I just didn't like the vibe at all. It was so full of B.S it wasn't even funny. Literally hard to find a thread that does not have people whining about something or another. I expect a car forum to you know, be something you can learn from, not just a bunch of grown ass men whining about cops and road rules and speed limits. Oh and I don't know about you, but I am not with the conservatives...so guess I would not fit well at all!

I went to the meets page, it had like 3 meets planned, one way down in august 20, a fiat meet (wth) and I think some sort of rally. No thanks.

I see a lot of 3G tl's around in the northside in that color (at least if it is the color I think it is) and ooohhhhhhh that miata sounds so fun! Must be so much fun to drive! With the white wheels, I will be sure to wave if I see you rolling around!

Yea I got married in January. It's been fun so far haha But I am doing well. Not looking good at work tho, gonna have to start looking for something else pretty soon, probably gonna do some kind of construction will this economy pics up.
How are you doing? You done university? I was at a car show and I saw that UofA go-kart, did you work on that thing?
Haha. I still have a soft spot for 4G TLs. We should have a meet or something soon, you can drive it or whatever. Haha.

Congratulations, happy for you to find your other half! I am doing great! I am done university now. I did not work on that go-kart, unfortunately. I work at Nisku now as a Junior Process Engineer. Happy to be working full time and getting full pay cheque. Lol. I work for a manufacturing company so I am not in the oil industry (thank god). I'll let you know if we have something for you.

I'm crushed. The miata literally just sold. It was for sale for a few weeks, but a guy ended up buying it today. I didn't think it would happen so soon

The nice thing is that it went to a good home and will remain on the north side. I had to sell due to a shit ton of big ticket items the wife and I have to purchase this year.

In return she said I can buy a nicer car in a year or two

I'll have to stay low key and down low with my grey TL until then at least it has the 6MT though

I had the same feeling with the rdx. I had to sell it because of some knee problems and it sucked so hard to see it to, but I know it went somewhere good so it is all good. The tl is still a good car though, could do MUCH worse!

Any ideas what you want to get in a couple years? Tlx?

I'll only buy a car that comes with a manual transmission. No ands, ifs, or buts.

My options are limited. I've never ever ever been a domestic guy, but let me tell you, the new Mustang GT checks off all the right boxes.

6MT? Check.
RWD? Check.
Limited slip differential? Check.
Independent rear suspension, with excellent handling characteristics? Check.
Recaro seats? Check (although I'm not sure I want them over the power, heated and cooled, standard leather seats )
Gobs of power? Check.
Cheap to mod for even more power? Check.
Very nicely appointed interior? Check.
Cheap to fix? Check.

I'd love to get my hands on the GT350, with the v8 engine that revs to 8200rpm, but I'm not sure I want to spend that much. It's a lot of cash. I'm sure I can "get by" with the lowly GT I've never owned anything with over 300hp. I think the new GT puts out 435hp and 400ftlbs, from a DOHC v8. What a gangster engine.

I've gotta tell you, I have never been a fan of domestics, ever. But lately, they are killing it! The new covette has me staring and drooling all the time, no matter what color or where, and the new mustang not only looks amazing, it drives amazing, and the interior quality kinda puts an Acura to shame.

There is no awd mustang is there? If not, they really really should get that out there.

The most powerful car I have owned had 325hp. My next vehicle will have close to 280hp, but hopefully the car after this new car will have 550hp (looking at you cayenne turbo s).

yea I really did not like the 4G when they came out. I still think it's not the best looking car. But it does have decent power, comes AWD and has manual tranny. So we'll see.

Oh good for you man, having a steady paycheck now days is commodity haha. What's the name of the company?

Oh man I know what you mean about the mustangs. I didn't really like them except the classics, 5.0 fox body, and early 2000s terminators. Other ones sucked hard, and my dad had a V6 2002 for like half a year which made me hate them even more. But these new ones are freaking beautiful!!! Ford did great, just freaking great. Everything you just listed is on point, and priced great as well.

Somebody was asking about a north side meet up... I dunno... I usually just keep to myself

To be honest, I've never ever gone to a car meet. Just kind of do my own thing, you know? I guess I could be persuaded, but it doesn't seem like there's much desire anyway.

As far as politics go, I'm all over the place. No one party really lines up with everything I believe in, and in fact, often times I do line up with Conservative beliefs, to a certain extent. However, it really pisses me off how Conservatives really go out of their way to say everyone else is stupid and brain dead and how voting for anyone else is a crime against humanity. Yet they're the ones who led us straight into the shit hole we're in now, but they'll never mention it. Granted, oil prices are out of everyone's control, but shit, not having a rainy day fund at all? C'mon...

I understand why people vote for certain parties and I never judge them or say they're wrong. I have many Conservative supporting friends. As well as NDP. As well as liberal. They vote for who they feel represents them best. It makes no sense for, say, a nurse to vote Conservative when they want to cut healthcare. Why is that person now considered an idiot for not voting conservative? I feel the hardcore conservatives really go out of their way to shit on everyone other than themselves. I see it on FB all too often, or hear it on the radio, or wherever else. It just makes me sick. Rather than work together to make the province good, they just fight instead, as if there is only one way to make this province work.

Long story short, I don't care who supports what party. Just keep it to yourself and don't shit on others for not agreeing, ya know?

Lol you seem so outspoken on the forum that it is kinda suprising to know you keep to yourself haha.

I have never gone to a meet either, but feel like a total idiot for never considering it. I always thought it was a bunch of ricey cars with people doing stupid shit, I am sure that is partially true, but can't be always lol. I would absolutely be down for one, but yeah like you said, the desire doesn't seem so strong, not many members around I guess.

You sound a lot like me, originally had a lot of values that lined up with the cons, but the wingbat dingbat harper left a horribly sour taste in my mouth and I don't feel morally ok saying I support them. They certainly never got my vote this past election though.

But with that being said, I never ever put anyone down for their political beliefs. Support whatever party you want or don't support whatever party you want. But don't sit there and try to shit all over someone else because of that kind of Shit. Imho it feels like Americans take the whole republican-liberal thing way more seriously than we do, I really hope we, as a nation, don't become like that. People actually get into huge fights over this stuff over there.

Anyways, nice meeting/chatting with you northsiders!

I have been to a few meets at UC, but only Season opener and season closer. That's where you see most of the nice cars and people are generally adults. no stupid shit happens usually since there is a police presence there.

I have never been on fridays. It's mostly rusted up JDM imports with kids doing burnouts and doughnuts in the parking lots. There are meets in Namao Tim Horton's parking lot as well on Thursdays I believe. But most of those guys are just friends and they just hang out there and drink coffee. Always see the same cars.

One year a bunch of Azine members and me went to honda meet. That was great. We met up before the meet and all came in together. It was a bunch of TLs 5-6 maybe, RL, TSX, 2G TL too. I don't know where the pictures of that are, I think I lost them but it was a good time. We didn't get that much love tho it seemed haha people liked rusted up civics with H22 swaps leaving puddles of oil all over the parking lot more than a nice TL but what ever haha

I realize this is a problem. I just can't figure out when to keep my mouth shut That, and I seem to have a lot of free time at work

Kind of like how Myron pointed out, I see the meets at United Cycle or Namao on occasion and it's always these super young guys. Sometimes there are nice cars. Often times there are plenty of over drifted, pieces of junk. I don't need one of those kids telling me what I "should" do with my car. I just pay no attention.

That, and my cars aren't all that modded. I mean, the Miata was. But it's gone. And my TL is nothing crazy. exhaust, wheels, aspec kit, and modestly lowered. Nothing to write home about. Could I drop it lower? forsure. But I'm more of a function over form kind of guy. If I'm unable to corner at balls-to-the-wall speeds, I won't be happy.

This is all I had done on my TL too, and opened up and blacked out headlights. Didn't even have the exhaust. And TL looks better than half the shit they bring to those meets. But unless you have cool blue/red hoses under the hood prettying your oil soaked engine, you aren't one of the cool kids

I just learned about the UC meets last week. But on the 780 tuners FB page, they mentioned that the owners of UC are now cracking down on cars that go there and cars are going to start being tagged and possibly tickited soon. From the comments section, it seems like there is a bunch of ricey cars and some guys in really ugly suv's with big wheels and attrocious bass. I love bass, but not ear bleeding bass. Any idea when the season open is? I might go knowing there won't be a bunch of hooliganism lol.

Thing is, I am a younger guy, but younger does not equal stupid or unable to realize I have consequences for my actions for me. So while the friday crowd might be closer to my age range, I can't stomach a bunch of idiocy all in one night and when younger guys gather....you know what is bound to happen.
I know a majority of the people that go to the namao meets personally. I would say it is much less about cars and more about chiling as friends.

Haha they didn't like being shown actual nice cars. It kinda cold shocked them that you guys never had horrible camber, ricey af rims, and weren't lowerd so bad you couldn't over a 2 inch speed bump.

I hear you on the free time at work. I am the type who gets my work done asap and then end up having 6 hours to do nothing. In school at one point I was literally 3 months in advance of the class...so much hooliganism was to be had.

The UC meets have me interested, I really want to go just to experience it, but worry about the large amount of idiocy. It would be a good way to meet people my age though....but I tend to be more mature than my age would let on. Oh and I couldn't keep my mouth shut long enough not to accidentally trash someone's ride....

You say "nothing crazy" on the tl, but I say "just right". I like mods that are small but classy and enhance the car. Like the lip and the exhaust system. You don't have to have 20 inch subs, nast chrome pie dish rims, gross paint color and neon lights to have a nice car for me.

so you mean i should cancel my order for the 22" chrome rims and underglow?

I also have my headlights blacked out. Need to redo one though. Seems to get a bit of moisture in it whenever I hit up the car wash. Otherwise it's always dry inside. I'll likely get around to it in the next 6-8 weeks, as I'm starting my landscaping this Saturday.

did you buy your car like that? I did a set of headlights for a member with anthracite TL 6 speed that resembles your car exactly.

I did, but the car came from Calgary. The guy cleared the insides and blackened the rest. I didn't like the clear turn signals so I opened them up again and put the amber back in. I think amber and anthracite grey go well together.

yea never mind then, this TL was in Belle Rive actually, but I think he sold it. He was on here as well. Has still 2G TL A-spec in blue with gold wheels, has a s2000 now I think and a few preludes. He is my friend's neighbor so I see his cars often.

I will personally go and take those wheels off and throw them into an incinerator.

If I do end up getting a sorento, I want to open up the headlights, black them out and put in this 2-way led light bar (looks like a solid white bar, that normally glows white, but will switch to amber and flash when I am signalling. Not ricey individual little dots like walmart sells) but I am scared as shit to put the headlights into the stove or to take a dremel to them.. Might have to hit one of you guys up for some help opening them up.

Honestly, I was nervous as fuck too, but once I did it, it's a piece of cake to open a headlight.

Do yourself a favor. Go to a junk yard and get an old headlight for cheap. Practice opening the fucker up. You'll gain a ton of confidence.

Opening it is the easy part. You gotta have a lot of patience- A ton of patience- if working inside the headlight. The body of it is robust and strong as shit, made to take rock impacts. The insides- not so much. Just practice on some older shit and you'll be golden.

As far as temp goes, you can't fuck that up either. Well, you can, but just be cautious and take your time. There isn't just one temperature that works for this. Just don't set it too high and don't let it sit too long. Keep the lens from facing the heating element.

Don't quote me on this since it's been a long time since I've done it, but I think anywhere in the range of 300-350F should be ok, just depends how long you're baking it for. Just look up what others have done for temp/time and you'll be fine.

Thanks for the advice, I really appreciate it. Good idea on getting a headlight from a junk yard, might even see if I can get a sorento headlight from a junkyard and going from there. I also always hear that it is a lot easier than it seems. But just the idea of putting multi-hundred dollar items into my stove kind of makes me queasy.

I think though if I did read up what other people did for temp and time, like you said, I would be ok. Going to see what happens soon. I might be getting an 07 X5 4.8i with the sport, luxury, cold weather, and tech packages....should be a fun ride. But don't want the headache. Is it wrong to have both a Kia and a BMW on my short list? Thing is, one is way older with higher kms (but a bmw) and the other is only a few years old and much lower kms (but a kia)....this is going to be tough.

Lol we northside boys gotta keep the place alive. As of today, it is official. No more meets at UC. The owners now have a strict no meet policy that is being backed by the eps. That was posted on the 780-tuners fb page today.

Wonder where the next meets are going to be, if you are going to any meets when you get back, hit me up. Would love to tag along and go to my first meet. I don't know why I never thought about going to one...seems like such a dumb oversight on my part.

But if the members on this site would like a meet, that would be cool as well. But so far doesn't look like we have a lot of people still active. Maybe it will pick up closer to summer? I don't know.

I;m sure we can find a new parking lot lol, we sometimes meet up for a pre-meet and roll in together, like that Honda one Myron mentioned (i didnt go to that) or we did it one year at hawrelak park then went to the UC opener.

I'm sure we can still get the members to come out, most of us have their facebooks/numbers still. havent heard from Vince or Quyen in awhile tho, seen Jeff here and there, he's always online playing Destiny haha

Any of you guys mechanics by trade or very mechanically inclined?

I am thinking of getting a car for myself and giving my wife the FX. I kind of want to get a 2G TL. Kijiji has some low mileage type s ones with busted transmission and I wanna change the tranny myself. I just need someone to help me out as I have not done something like that before.

take the CL-P and slap that M90 supercharger on it so it sticks out of the hood. I have been seeing lots of swapped civic online popping out with those hahaha It would be funny to see one in person
