Zaino questions

I'm planning to buy a set of Zaino products to protect my car, but I'm just wondering about a few things.

1. Can I use Z-5 (for swirls and scratches) on the chrome part of the front of the TSX where the Acura logo is?

2. I need to apply ZFX + Z-2 together everytime right? How long after applying ZFX do I need to wait to apply Z-2? Is this the process: Apply ZFX, wait, buff off, apply Z-2, buff off right away, then begin another coat starting with ZFX right after?

3. Buffing off means just rubbing it out till it shines?

4. The dealer suggested to use Mother's California Gold wax. Would going with ZFX + Z-2 give the same protection? Is just using ZFX + Z-2, Z-6, and Z-7 enough to protect my car's paint?

5. Should I use ZFX + Z-2 on the headlights and tailights or only on painted parts of the car?

Yeah I'm totally new to polishing

Probably. This I don't know. Call up Sal Zaino and ask.

You have an idea, but this is not how ZFX works. You actually mix a few drops of ZFX "accelerant" in with a bit of the Z-2 polish and then use the combo on your car.

3. Buffing off means just rubbing it out till it shines?
Yup. You wait for it to dry, then make sure you wipe it off completely. No real "buffing" required like paste waxes.

ZFX and Z-2 is the protector. Z-6 just adds shine. (Z-7 is the soap). I have been mean to my car. I used 2 layers of Z-2 and water is still beading after 8 months. And, when the dirt is off, it's still relatively shiny (although not near what it used to be).

5. Should I use ZFX + Z-2 on the headlights and tailights or only on painted parts of the car?
You can, but it really doesn't do anything for you. The polymer is basically clear. So if you put it on, it might make the plastic a bit more shiny, but won't really protect anything because there's nothing to protect. The nice thing is though, that if you get it somewhere, it's clear and won't show.

However, I would NOT use it on the windows as this could add just more chemicals to the mix and create streaking, hazing, etc. Just to be safe.

Check their website for application tips.

actually - many users do use the Z2/Z5 on their windshields , ,acts like rain-x . .no issues.
Zaino on chrome , . . . i do . . .. rims, bumpers, you name it. swirl hiding properties on chrome - thats a tough one . . . wont hurt.

ooops - just a bit more . . .

Yes, it will way outprotect and outlast the Mothers . .. no question. So, feel free to use it.

Remember - ZFX is only an additive and is not needed everytime. Here are the rules/guidelines for when to use ZFX
- the very first time you apply Zaino polish to the car - it bonds it.
- any time you want to apply two or more coats
when you go to layer on the 9th or 10th coat that has not had ZFX mixed in it.
- 5-6 months after the last time you applied any ZFX mixed polish.

Otherwise, after the first coat, feel free to apply a Z2 or Z5 right from the bottle to the applicator pad. It will do just fine . . .

Actually, Zaino on my trim pieces is one of my favorite parts about Zaino. It looks damn good on headlights, chrome and wheels. IMO it brightens up tail and headlights significantly. It really makes the red in the taillights pop. That and Zaino is practically bulletproof, practically nothing can take it off. This is of course, both good and bad.

Oh and one more question ... would it be bad to get Z-2 on the black rubber/hard plastic around the side windows and attatched to the base of the side-view mirrors? Or should I use Z-2 on them too?
