Zaino/Clay Bar

Okay, I got the clay bar and I'm going to try and do it when I get home today. But my question is....how well does the clay bar remove buggs? I went on a roadtrip this weekend to Florida and have a ton of bug splatter that I couldn't get off very well with just a car wash?

Thanks

It works great. Use plenty of lube though. I suggest mixing up some Dawn and water to make the lube.

Sweet, I think I'm going to give it a shot tonight when I get home. It has been staying light out until about 8:30 so I think I should have enough time.

If you already have ZAINO on the car I would use Z-7 mixed with water instead of DAWN.
Dawn will strip ALL the wax off on the area you are “claying”.

I'll second Shawn on that. if you have zaino on the car - and you have Z7 wash - mix a cap or two in a spray bottle as the lube.

If you dont have Zaino on the car - dawn and clay will certainly remove al wax on the areas you do.

If you dont have Zaino on the car - but for some reason have zaino wash (???) use that mixed with water - then clay.
Sure, why would you NOT have Zaino on the car - but have a Zaino clay and wash ?

Just covering all the basics . . .

remember - dont clay in circles - very very light side to side motions - till the "click" isnt there - then move on. Keep it lubed, asd lay a twoel on the bround below the work area in case you drop the clay - if it hits the actual ground - toss it. if it hits the towel - ure ok, just turn it inside out and expose a new clean surface.

have fun . .

Dawn does not strip Zaino. Clay strips Zaino. Dawn just makes it squeaky clean.

The only thing I have found that strips Zaino is an abrasive, like 3M SMR or denatured alcohol.

I like that tip! Can't believe I never thought of that. Thanks!

And take your time when using the clay bar. GO SLOWLY. If you do quick back-and-forth motions, you'll see that clay bar fly out of your hand and into the petunia beds. The clay bar is the most-intensive and slowest part of the process, but you do end up with a real smooth finish.
