I'm in

Thanks for all your help on this board. You pros are best at dealing with the odd problems.

Wish you ran the offer by Wednesday, we would have the stuff by Friday.

Next weekend is mothers day, maybe get some microfibers so she can dust the house

Excel,

I am currently using Mothers Reflections and have been very pleased with the results on my '06 TSX (Alabaster Silver Metallic). I used either Mothers California Gold or Meguiars Gold class to wash with a micro-fiber mit, followed by a QD with Mothers Showtime QD, on a weekly basis; I put an application of Top Coat (or occasionally Reflections Car Wax) on it about 1x month (doesn't need it that often, but I enjoy waxing my car).

If I wanted to take it to the next level, what would you recommend? Four Star Ultimate Paint Protection (Polymer)? I would be applying it by hand.

Thanks.

Mic, your routine is sound! Reflections Polymer is a great product. Isnt that smell additicting?? I havent used the Top Coat you speak of, but would imagine its similiar to the Reflections Spray Wax?
You may consider using a Sheepskin Washmit instead of the MF. Just a little additional safety from wash marring.
I normally recommend a UPP treatment with quick detailing between washes, and a once monthly application of UPPS, which is identical to your Mothers routine. The Four Star is a notch better then the Mothers, but its your routine thats just as important.

I have a quick detailing question for you guys. I just received my order of Clearkote Vanilla Moose and Carnauba Moose. I have decent oxidation and swirls, so I'm going to polish everything out with my Mother's Powerpolish. My question is, can I jump right from the Powerpolish to the Vanilla Moose, or should I use a less abrasive polish in between, like Meguiar's #9 Swirl Remover? The Powerpolish is supposed to be very good in that it doesn't leave a haze like other compounds, and it stays fairly wet during application. That being the case, I assumed I could jump right to the Vanilla Moose. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

The Megs #9 is very mild. You'll find the VM properties very attractive, as well as it being an extremely easy product to use. Dont hesitate to apply it on vinyl or rubber trim. Even glass.
However, you may experience some durability issues if you elect to use a polymer as your choice of protection. Nubas tend to blend a little better with it. It may prevent the polymer from actually linking with the surface.

I'll be topping it off with Carnauba Moose. The only polymer I currently have is Mother's Reflections, but since it contains mild cleaners, I didn't want it cleaning off the glaze anyways. So, do you think I can go right from the Powerpolish to the VM?

I have a Dewalt rotary, but it is temp. out of comission, so i'll be using my orbital with probably a terry bonnet. From what I understood, the Powerpolish is pretty versitile, and I would still get decent results with an orbital.

wow...i'm looking forward for a lot of shopping!
anyway...i'm about to order upp and ocw 1g...it is worth it?
i already bought 17oz of ocw about 3 months ago...and it only has a half bottle left. so i'm thinking about buying 1 gallon.
also does klasse AIO work well with OCW?
i'm gonna buy upp but i don't have much time to apply every 3 months. so i'm planning to use OCW to replace the UPP and use UPP once in every 6 months.
thanks!

awesome, i dont know much about detailing, but after i had my car done profesionally 2 months ago, ive been washing my car myself, and have gotten pretty good at it.

So now, summer is here, and i figure i might as well learn how to do the rest of the hard stuff and read up on some of the stickys.

AIO will work with a majority of the sealant/waxes available. I love OCW, but I would opt for UPPS. Maybe Patrick will have a comment on that.

The PP sounds like quite a product! Very similiar to the Opt polish in workability? Im sure you'll be successful with the PC. I'd really prefer you go with foam pads though.......

Thanks! Now get to work!!

Newclean: OCW and UPP are excellent sealants! Why both though? Curiosity gottchya? I prefer using both product on fairly sterile surfaces, as in just cleaned or polished. (No protection a.k.a. fairly sterile. ) The AIO may not allow bonding as intended. So you may have some durability issues with either of those.
You can always use the UPPS monthly, and avoid having to use the UPP, except for quarterly. Whatever you decide, make sure you have a good base coat of protection.....

Rmat, you know where to find good help, theres quite a few in here willing to assist, and if one of us arent online, one of us are online, lol......

I was thinking the same thing. I ordered some goodies last week...which arrived in a remarkably prompt fashion, by the way.

Because I have no willpower whatsoever, you'll now have to excuse me while I go shopping.

quick question...i'm thinking about buying good pre wax cleaner. what do you recommend?
since polish with abrasive is thinning the clearcoat...and i already have op for removing imperfection, i want to buy a pre wax paint cleaner for removing remaining sealant/wax. what do you recommend? is Poorboys Pro Polish good and containing non/very little amount of abrasive to safely use frequently? about once in 2-3 months.
thanks.

Haha, tell me about it. I have had lots of different stuff come in the last little while. You will get pics next week,.....after my detailing is done.

I hate ordering stuff from the US though,...........those Bas&#$%s at Canadian Customs bend me over and feed it to me hard with their ridiculous fees. Like 20 dollars on a little box of detailing supplies,.........what the heck.

If you want a chemical paint cleanser to use before waxing thats not abrasive then I would go with a paint cleanser/cleaner like FourStar Ultimate pre-wax Cleanser or Ultimate Paint Cleanser, Meg's Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner, Wolfgang Pre-wax Polish Enhancer, or Pinnacle Paintwork Cleansing Lotion (very very light abrasive). I think those are more along the lines of what you are looking for.

Few links to stuff I mentioned:

http://www.autogeek.net/wg2000.html
http://www.prestostore.com/cgi-bin/s...954&recview=11
http://www.meguiars.com/?auto-paint-...-Paint-Cleaner

Anyway, thats just my suggestion,........see what Excel, Hawyhen, Vroom, JakieO, etc recemmend. They know more than I do.

I need to try Charlie's soap. I placed an order today too and didn't even think about it.

I don't know more than anybody but I'll second the nomination for Four Star UPWC (darn - I'm so used to calling it UPC, now I have to remember to add the dubya). Definitely one of my go-to products. I find Poorboys Pro Polish to be very similar, both in terms of application and results.
