Washed the New Toy

I got this toy a little bit ago, but never had time to give it a good bath. I did however have Brian Bryce detail it when I got it and he did a phenomenal job at removing most of the defects.

The Materials-
2 Regular Buckets
2 Wash mitts
1 MF wash mitt
Foam Gun
Zaino Z-7
Black Magic Wheel Cleaner
Black Magic Tire shine
MF towels
3 inch wide paint brush

Black Magic Wheel cleaner was applied to the rims and let sit while the buckets, mitts and foam gun were gathered. Then the rims were sprayed down to be still dirty . Then the car was foamed for a pre-wash, then washed off with high pressure. Then the foam was sprayed again and then agitated with 1 of the wash mitts. The 2 bucket method was used after every panel and the car was washed twice. Foam was sprayed on the whole car every 10 minutes.

Then the car was rinsed off with high pressure water, then was dried with the natural flow of water to sheet it off. Then the car was pat dried with MF towels. The wheels were sprayed again with Black magic wheel cleaner and then agitated by hand with the MF wash mitt. Wheels were then rinsed off and came out pretty clean on the outside, still a bit caked brake dust on the inside barrels.

The car was then re-dried after all the wet spots were found. Black magic tire spray was sprayed onto the paint brush, then applied to the tires. Not pictured, the tire shine was reapplied 2 hrs. later to give it more of a gloss/sheen/wet look and to help avoid slinging.

No before pics, but here are the afters:

Right now it's just the paint, z-6 will be applied later on. As far as the orange streaks on the rims, Brian discovered them after I got the car to him, it appears that the dealership used a harsh cleaner on it and then they discolored. I'll try claying them once I get a good Floor-Jack.

The paint brush could be used for plenty of things on the exterior and interior. I'll give a few examples below:

Exterior:
  • Wheels
  • Moldings
  • Engine bay area
  • Lug nut area
  • Side mirror openings
Interior:
  • Vents
  • Gauge cluster/console area
  • Climate control area
  • Other misc. cracks/crevices

I use the spray on Tire foam, but I spray it onto the brush, then use it to "brush" the tires instead of having the foam go everywhere and waste a ton of product. As well its nice light coatings so it won't sling everywhere, and it can be applied pretty neatly so you won't have to run around the car with towels wiping off any drips from the rims.
