Tire shine applicator - need advice.

Hey guys,

I really need to get a good tire shine applicator. Any ideas on which ones are good, fast, and mess free? I have been using Meguiars Edurance Gel, and it works great, but I don't have a good tire applicator. I've bought the tire swipes at auto zone, but they suck. Does anyone know where I can get a good one that will make applying tire shine super quick?

Thanks,

Jeff

Check your local auto parts store for something like the ones pictured or you can visit the links I've provided. Autogeek has several dressing applicators

and Chemical Guys has 5 of this type for $7.95

Proper Auto Care has a similar type . . . 3 for $3.95

The shitty part about all of those above is there is no taper and its hard to get the edge of the tire thats on the road.

These ones I found the best .. Made by Eagle 1

Dressing can and is a PITA. I have used many so called "dressing applicators" and have found creativity to be the most economical. Take a grout sponge and cut it into 1/3's. At just a couple bucks each, you end up with at least three.
Another tip, dont try to do the whole tire with one 360 deg application,as your better off moving the car a couple feet to get the remaining areas ya couldnt get at 6 o'clock.

Jesstzn - I've tried those before too, and agree they're better than those without a taper, but I've found over time they start to drip / ooze (not initially, but eventually they do).

I like this product by Eagle 1. After you run out of the tire shine inside the bottle, you can keep it for the applicator. IMO, this is the best applicator I've ever seen. Although, with any applicator (this one or the ones you mentioned), I still feel it's necessary to move the car to adaquately get the full tire.

Haha, I was thinking of doing that...what do you refill it with? Have you tried any gels? The stuff that comes in here is kind of between a gel & a liquid. So, I wasn't sure if a thicker gel would clog it up...?

I use endurance and just some generic rectangular applicators. Don't get ones with plastic handles because the handles come off (at least in my experience) after one or two wheels worth of use. There's nothing special about doing it, other than moving your car a couple feet to get spots you missed and waiting an hour or two to drive at any high speed.
