So I've Got a Problem...

I finished up detailing the Santa Fe for the summer early this morning. It was a full bore wash, clay, polish, and seal with 4-star UPP. Well I got up and pulled the car into the driveway to see it in the light and the car was COVERED in tiny bugs. And I don't mean one or two...probably 40 to 50! I'm not exactly sure what they are; they move like fleas but they have wings and seem to be waaay too small for that (about the size of .. those two periods put together). They look a lot like fruit flies.

This is the first time I've ever had bugs be attracted to a car that has had 4-star UPP applied to it. Freakin' irritating. Has anybody else had this happen to them?

Interesting. Probably too small for fruit flies. Where are they on the vehicle? Pics?

SJ...they were concentrated on the driver's side towards the rear and on the tailgate. I haven't driven the car at all since I finished it but I just went back out to check on them and could only find two!! WTF?

I tried my best to photograph them...they are very small and the flash seems to make them transparent which leads me to believe they are probably young fruit flies. They're so small the camera didn't pick them up and couldn't focus on them.

This is the better of the two...he's cruising along the hood here, checking out the silver flake.

I finally got a good look at one...I think they are juvenile gnats. The Griot's undercarriage spray has made the entire garage smell like blueberries and I think that's what is attracting them.

So thats where them lil buggers went?? Usually in spring shows here I get them all over mine .. they seem to like white or yellow .. we can have 20 cars in a row and they will all be on mine.

Maybe their GPS is messed up and they ended up down there.

Having a NBP, I get a bunch of all-white bugs that are attracted to it. I have no idea what they are. I think someone's nicked it.
