my tranny problem... may be something else...
well... yesterday i went to a local AAMCO for shits and goggles to find out what was wrong with my car... $45 for diagnostics... they ask if i can bring the car down and its 2 mins from my house so i agree... I figure Ill drive car there in 1st gear... so I manually shift my auto from 1st thru 4th and no problems... Im like hold up... so I stop and start in D4 and no problems!!!!
AAMCO says that it could simply be a sensor in tranny or speed regulator... very simple cheap problem... sinvce the check engine light is on.. they wanted to read computer but my computer would not comminicate with there system...
So I drive home and I do not baby the car home... She drove perfectly!!!! like the day I bought her!
I have an app't with my boy at Acura of Westchester next friday... I hope this is something stupid.. I would be one happy MFer...
Fixed tranny or not I think I am still selling the car for reduced price from $9k to $7k...
I need this car to sell fast!!!!!
anybody know anyone looking for a car? I am selling alot of shit with it for a good $$$...
I only have 75,500k miles... Let me know.. It would be a great help!
Thanks!

Keep us updated on what you find. My 97 3.0 CL shifts rough from first to second, much more so when cold. When I took it to the dealer, they got no codes out of it, and neither did my parents' friend, who does a lot of transmission fixes. So the fix is either the shifting solenoid ($300-$500) or the whole thing being replaced ($3000+ new via Acura/friend's shop, or $2000+ AAMCO rebuild) - I'm just trying to decide what to do while not driving it. FWIW - I've owned the CL since day one and put on 135K miles...
Casper i had to replce that sensor you can try it but i think you need to lift the car all the way up to get to it, it will also run you 350 bucks, thats how much i paid form acura for my new one

it gets info from the 1-2 and 3-4 shift solonoids to shift thru gears.. i think the sensor casper has a problem with is the vehicle speed sensor. if the sensor solonoid is bad it will shift hard thru all gears. kind of a bang. remove the air intake and remove the dip stick screw and turn it to one side. the sensor only has 6 bolts (10mm) and they torque down to 8 inch pounds. do not over tighten it. when u remove it make sure three black o-rings are still on the metal tubes that get exposed. and buy a new gasket. it all should come with the new sensor.
this is the tranny sensor that tells the tranny when to shift and it works with the ECU in sync with the tranny to get smooth shifting, just happens mine went out that same time the tourque convertor went out as well as the tranny

to get to the AAMCO i manually shifter from D1-D2-D3-D4 and back down...
shifting an auto will only lead to tranny problems... anyone who does the D4 to D3 or D3 to D4 to race is only doimg harm!!!
