side mirror are water spot etched

I tried to wipe down the mirrors last night with some glass cleaner and to my surprise none of the water spots came off!! I haven't had a chance to mess with them again but are the mirrors plastic? I hope I can buff them out cause the water spots are nasty! anyone else have problems/tips?

stoners invisible glass, if its really in there then vinegar/water. i've also seen a meguiars guy use either scratchx or swirlx to remove watermarks on glass.

Steel wool "0000". Very light pressure until the etching is gone. Or Zaino glass cleaner/polish.

Not sure if these showed up overnight or if you had them for a while. Are these spots brownish? Check if your heated mirror switch remained ON for longer than needed.
