I use a citrus based powder such as Snappy Clean. For now, you may try Dawn liquid detergent.

All I have ever used is the Blue Dawn. I pre soak the pads in a pail in warm water/Dawn as soon as I am finished with each one, then I take each pad and put a spiral of Dawn on it and work it in with my thumbs till it sudses up then rinse. If there is lots of polish it may take 2 times.

To get the suds out after, I have cool water running in a pail and I squeeze the pad under water till near all the suds are gone then a final rinse under running water.

To dry then I spin them on a backing plate I have on my cordless drill. You can do the same on the PC but spin them in a pail in case it flies off.

I then place them velcro side up on a wire clothes drying rack. They are usually dry by the next morning.

Always has for me ... but then again I don't leave the pads dirty for days then try and wash them.

This is the biggest thing I notice a lot of people don't do, they wait for another time to start soaking the pads and once the product cakes up it is very difficult to remove. When you start soaking the pads right away, they come out like new almost every time, especially if you use the right amount of product on each pad.

Good pad cleaning advice

I presoak in hot water + Dawn for an hour or so. Then rinse, apply a little more Dawn and use a stiff bristle pad cleaning brush. Works well for CCS pads.
