A new car doesnt really need a polish, MAYBE a light smr like SSR1...Depends on if it has dealer installed swirls or if you marred anything while claying...

I am planning to take my care to ajdetailing.com in San jose. They said they will be charging $260 for interior and exterior detailing . Even they are offering new car protection with a 4 yrs warranty. I am confused to pay this much and get it done or I can do on my own. But its going to be completely new to me.

RED FLAG - do not pay for this. It's worthless hype. Use the money and go buy the tools / products you need to do it yourself.

Not only should you not pay for it, but also find someone else...

No such thing as four year protection without additional applications, and I doubt they are offering free re-aps.

Unless you know how to maintain a paint finish I doubt you would get 3-6 months of protection with that "magic sealant". I would spend the money on a good professional detailer without the gimmicks or on a machine polishing kit. Note that you will have to do your homework first if you decide to detail the car yourself. There are many great detailing forums on the web to gain information on how to detail.

I read the aj site info and a few red flags popped up .. the main one is 2 layers of a sealant in one day .. not good unless they are using Zaino with ZFX and that I doubt. And there seems to be a lot of filing going on as opposed to paint correction.

And its pricy.

Thanks a lot for your replies. So As my car is new and black one, what I need to do initially. Just waxing is fine or any other things that I need to do with my brand new car.

I have one more doubt about interior stuff. The detailing center guys said that they will do the interior details for brand new cars too. But the only thing needed(According to my knowledge) leather treat ment. Is it necessary for a new car?

Teflon is a great marketing word but useledd in waxes as it takes over 400F to bond it and your paint will peel first.

Buy a leather conditioner at WW and do it yourself .. also buy a bottle of Meguiars NXT 2.0 and a few microfiber towels and do the whole job yourself in a Sat morning.

I would say "baby" it until it needs something more, but good polymer protection is mandatory. Im not sure about NXT2.0, I havent used it before, and havent really heard enough about it. What is mportant for you, IMO, is getting a routine down, with washing, drying, quick detailing, and monthly protection upkeep.
Use gentle sheepskin and a good quality wash soap or NRWS (not Dawn), grit guard, waffle weaves. Quick detailer for wekly upkeep, and a spray sealant/wax for additional monthly protection.
As for the interior, its brand new, what could there possible be to "detail!"
Wipe interiors down weekly with a damp MF, and apply UV and or leather protectants about every 8-10 weeks.

I never understood why some detailers use that "teflon coating" marketing crap. Is there some seminar these guys go to that tours the country? Makes the whole business shady...
