Griot's Garage Brush!

I never thought I'd use a brush to wash my car with, but today was my first use of a Boar's Hair Brush from Griot's (toy store for car phreaks). Damn - love that thing. Makes washing even faster & easier and not a single scratch. Also made my wheels a piece of cake! (late model Mustang GT wheels are 5 spoke jobs with lots of room to get a brush in). Bye bye brake dust, did all 4 wheels in less than 5 minutes probably. Hell, whole car was washed & rinsed in approx. 20 minutes. Love it - highest recommendation! Kinda pricey - but money well spent IMHO.

And you did this on a black car? Don't you worry about the brake dust now being on the brush for the next time you wash? I am alwats concerned that I can't really completely rinse the brake dust out.

Nope. My wheels get another coat of Z2 everytime the car does, so the brake dust isn't 'caked' on. And boar's hair apparently is really great stuff. Dunk the brush underwater in the bucket, shake gently and it's clean. I change the water during the wash and between wash & rinse also (again, I'm paranoid). I emailed Griot's about using a brush and they email back that people gleefully use them on $100,000 911 Turbos. Good enough for me!

I just got a bunch of stuff from Griot's (I went on a detailing buying spree.....)

I some new brushes for wheels etc. Would you recommend it over the 2-sponge wash: 1 sponge for top of car, other sponge for low part of car?

I'm sticking with the brush personally. Griot's makes a boar's hair wheel brush, which I'm gonna get

The main page is:

http://www.griotsgarage.com/index.jsp

I know the latest catalog they sent had the car washing brush *and* wheel brush. Didn't check for those items on the site...

The car care online folks also make a "horse hair" wheel brush that is very soft and gentle on wheels.

http://www.carcareonline.com/products_frame.html

Look 1st for: CLEANING TOOLS & SUPPLIES
then
Look for the item, "ZYMOL WHEEL BRUSH"
(they have other wheel/brushes/etc).

P.S. -- Look under "Boar" in the Griot's site search window for the Car brush.

And, finaly, the link to find more car detailing/"car care" links:

yeah, the Griot's stuff is pricey, but I look at it as a case of 'you get what you pay for'. Besides, $70 is a whole lot cheaper than repainting!

Nozzle, schmozzle!

If you're gonna buy the boar's hair brush from Griot's, you might as well go whole hog and get the one that comes with the flow through handle for your garden hose. You'll be happier than a pig in sh!t.

Go on, lemme hear ya squeal - Squeal like a pig.
