Detail Freaks Step Inside Please

So, I used to be a bit of a detail nut, I would spend hours buffing and buffing and laying a coat of wax. My PC7424 is a bit old, but it works well.. I do however need new pads. Adams seems to have a nice pad and backing system that I think I wanna dry.

Do they cut well? Anyone used them?

I have the old lake country pads.. Yellow,Orange and Blue, I also have two of the newer black pads for finishing. I want to buy some new pads and some good cutting compound. I've heard great things about the Megs 105 and 205 polishes? I have some Merenza SIP, but its a pita to get off. My TL was buffed wrong at some point in time and has a lot of micro-marring and buffer trails all over it. Plus it's black, so I really need to work on it to get it up to snuff.

So I'm looking for recommendations; I don't have a ton of money to spend, but I don't care to buy some pieces at a time until I get my stock pile worked back up with new product.

I'm not too worried about car soap, I have a ton of meguiars that I can use. I have a bunch microfiber wash mit, blah blah blah.

Looking at new waxes and such as well; Whats the difference between this product.

http://www.autogeek.net/dark-soft-carnauba-wax.html

and this one?

http://www.autogeek.net/dodo-purple-haze-pro-wax.html

For interior I think I'll go with Adams interior products.. Do you guys prefer to use a Leather Cleaner and Conditioner or do you prefer each to be separate products and not a two in one? After cleaning the interior I know it will smell nice with the leather and interior cleaners and trim protected, but has anyone used this stuff? I hear it smells really good and a lot of people recommend it. Anyone familiar with it? Or what do you use if anything?

Anything else? Anyone have any recommendations?

I'm in the process of finishing my car.
I used the megs 105 on a white pad to get rid of the defects, but it left some marring (as to be expected).
Now I am finishing it down with the 205 on a black pad.
When I am done with the polishing I will top it with a caot of Megs Sealent 2.0, let it cure for 24 hrs, then top that with Megs Yellow wax.

How is the 205 with a black pad? I am polishing down the 205 with a green pad.

^It is doing the job pretty well, the only thing is I keep getting holograms even with a clean and primed pad.
I may try the green lake country pad tomorow just to see how it compares.

Isn't the black pad for applying glazes etc not polishing .. if your getting holograms your polishing too long and its going dry on you ..

What I really want to know is if the Uber pads that DetailersDomain sells are just rebranded Lake County pads.

The black pad is a finishing pad, with acuras soft paint there isnt really a need for a white pad.
This is well documented by todd at detailedimage.com

A white LC pad will mar the heck out of my NBP paint. I typically use the green LC pad with a fine polish like Menzerna PO106FA (SF4000). I would use a LC black pad with Menzerna PO85RD (UF5000).

M205 is terrible at finishing down, despite it's advertised use. I would really recommend Menzerna 106FA or 85RD instead. Also, OP, the reason why SIP is so tough to remove is because you are using too much product, or not working it long enough, or both. Use 3 small dots on the pad, work it until it turns clear and it should wipe off like butter.

Someone please tell me what pad combination I can use, My paint has a ton of buffer trails and holograms from the piss poor job that someone did on my car at the dealer.

Its NBP.

If the paint is that soft what steps would be the best to take for correction? Should I skip orange pads all around?

I'll use Menzerna products from here on, the 205 because of its non-diminishing abrasives has a hard time finishing down with no marring or holorams.

I just did my TL this weekend. It's going to rain tomorrow, but she's protected well.

Washed with Dawn.
Clay Bared the Hood,Fenders,Bumper,Roof,Trunk; Doors and rear 1/4's were not bad at all. Washed with Dawn again.
PC-7424 Orange Pad with Menzerna SIP on the Hood,Fenders,Front Bumper (had to up to yellow on the main front for a bit then step back to orange) and on the Passenger doors and along the roof line and trunk in the rear. Followed that up with some swirl cutter on a blue bad and it looked great.

Washed the dust/crap that had built up on it off and then waxed with some Meguiars Ultimate Paste Wax.

I never bought the Zaino Z5 so I just picked this up.
