Black paint wax haze

A question for the pros. I own two black cars. From time to time after waxing (by hand with Megs OTC products), the finish has a slightly hazy appearance instead of that deep, clear, wet-look gloss. What am I doing wrong? Is it from ambient humidity? I haven't encountered this with other, light-colored cars I've owned.

Thanks.

Have you done any sort of correction with a random orbital machine? If not the haze you're seeing is probably swirl marks or possibly even oxidation because true gloss comes from proper polishing of defects, not what you put on after. What kind of towels are you using?

Specifically which products?

I had bad hazing with Megs #26 on a black F 150 last week and it was because the truck was too hot and it wasn't drying it was more flashing.

Heat the surface up in the sun shine for several minutes, Move back to the shade and hit it with some QD and a nice MF. If this helps, you may just be applying too much nuba and not getting all of it off.

i would think your using too much...less is more with a lsp, and keep in mind, black will magnify flaws in your tecnique...if you had used too much lsp on a white or silver car, you might not see it...

Thanks guys. The TL is only 6 months old, and I try very hard not introduce swirls in my washing technique, etc. In bright daylight I'm not picking up any spiderwebs or swirl marks.

I'll try going a little lighter on the wax. I appreciate the replies.

very light...and if i were you, i would switch to a synthetic sealant...

for reference, i use a liquid sealant, and use about an ounce for the whole car...maybe 4 dime size drops for the hood...

There are a couple of things you can try... I have owned 8 black cars over the past 10 years and I am OCD for car detailing.

-Don't use too much product (wax)
-Make sure all of the surfaces are cool to the touch, open your hood after washing if the car is hot to cool it down.
-Use high quality WHITE towels. Dyes in the towles can do weird things to the products used.
-Do not use fabric softener when you wash your detail towles and if your washer has an extra rinse cycle, select this.
-Don't use too much pressue when applying the product

I use Zanio Brothers products. They are expensive but work really good. Most of what I said here comes from reccomendations for their site. I mulled over buying their products for 2 years. Once I did and followed some of their suggestions I was very impressed with the outcome.
