Never heard of anyone being able to get them off cleanly.

I was trying to tell you "forget about it - no one has done it cleanly - it's gonna be a mess". Get it ?

Congrats. You just got your first warning. Don't expect to see the second one.

As opposed to removing them...

Perhaps cover them over with a custom vinyl sticker??? A color match would be best, but perhaps at least a complimentary color would be OK?

Ideally... There are decals I use here at work, that are made using "second surface printed velvet polycarbonate." Basically.... The layers are as follows:

0.005 - 0.010 thick polycarbonate
------------------------------------------
any custom color, screen printed
-----------------------------------------
5-7 mil thick 3M VHB adhesive tape

In this manner you could have an exact PMS color match to your car interior, and they would be perfectly sized... That being said, unless you could do some decent qtys... You're looking at say, $100 per label... At decent qtys, you could get that down to about $5 each when it's all said and done. For some serious custom stuff though (that is removeable) this is a good solution, although a bit drastic!
