Parking brake in Park

Hey guys

When you put the vehicle into park, should the parking brake automatically engage? Is there such a feature?

I looked into the manual and there's a way of activating this feature, however it still did not work for me.

Please help

Thanks

Per the owner manual (page 487) the auto parking brake engages when the engine is turned off, not when shifting to park.

It did not engage
I tried setting up the procedure per page 486, but no success. I do not get what the manual said by “power mode on"? Meaning engine one or just acc. power on?

Thanks again

For me, it only seems to work when I have the “Brake Hold” feature engaged. Then, when I push the “Stop” button, the transmission automatically goes into “Park” and the parking brake automatically goes on (but only after I take my foot off the brake pedal). I usually always use “Brake Hold,” so the parking brake usually always automatically engages; if I forgot to use “Brake Hold,” it does not.

This would be a good example for Youtube.

There is a setting to have it automatically engage if you hold the switch a few seconds.

I will have a video up soon @ https://www.youtube.com/MrFligster and will post the link here when uploaded. I think the problem people might have is they are pushing the start/stop button once to go into accessory mode, rather than twice to turn the car "on" (without starting the engine).

Press the start/stop button twice (without foot on brake)

Thank you
The manual wasn't very clear on the procedure

That procedure from the video is completely different than what's describe in the Acura manual. WTF Acura

Also, I tried the mode selector for first time, the rdx image and the modes did not show up on the infotainment screen. The car's not even 7 days old in our hands.

Please advise

Thanks

Just a cautionary note for those living in 'non-tropical' locations - parking brakes can freeze up during cold weather, I've had it happen and it's a PITA. I don't use the automatic feature so I can control when the parking brake is engaged and when it's not.

I'm trying to think of a good reason why I would want to enable this feature. I'm not saying it is not useful, but what purpose does this really serve on the car? It will already shift to park automatically, so except to save any possible transmission wear for a vehicle parked on an incline, I'm not seeing the usefulness.
