2019 RDX vs 2017 RX350
2019 RDX vs 2017 RX350
I'm planning to get a new car, and now hesitating between the new RDX and a CPO 2017 RX350 F-sport. The RDX has better performance, better infotainment system and it's also several thousand bucks cheaper. But RX350 caught my eyes with its beautiful designs. It has all led lights (rear led turn signals, triple beam headlight). Its interior also looks clean and elegant.
Has anyone been in a similar situation? Which one would you choose?

you're posting here on this board, which means everyone is biased and obviously purchased the RDX over the RX.
why ask us what WE want, when you should be asking what YOU want??
DO you want the better performer?
DO you want the less expensive car?
DO you want the better infotainment system???
or would you rather have the gorgeous RX?
what do you want?
one thing to note; the RDX is new and thus going through first year woes.
Nonetheless, you should test drive BOTH cars and figure out which one you like better...then purchase the one you like.

I spent enough time in comparing 2018 RDX vs. X3 Vs. RX and then finally decided to go with RDX. If you ask me, there is no comparison between 2017 RX vs. 2019 RDX. 2019 RDX is equipped with lot of goodies and technologies. Unless you are Lexus biased, RDX is the choice.
Toyotas...I meant Lexus are very BORING cars to drive...no fun...no excitement. Great quality and run forever but you might as well be driving a Hyundai Sonata as it will excite you the same.
If the RX has caught your eye and has an appeal, you know that getting a CPO, 2-year-old car is more 'cost effective' than buying new. Assuming it has everything you are looking for and does not have things you don't want, I say go for it. Get the car you want to own and drive and the heck what internet people think. Too, the heck with what non-internet people think. At this level, we are not talking basic transportation, like, say, a 25-year-old Dodge Colt, but a vehicle (vee-hick-ill) that meets many wants and few needs.

I too was looking at RX350 and NX200t/NX300, but ended up with 2019 RDX. Nothing wrong with Lexus as I had a IS300 when it first came out. Great car and great quality.
I have heard enough stories about people leasing luxury cars and never went in for maintenance for the entire lease period (1~3 years), even though the maintenance came free with the lease
. So, I am not going to take the chance with a CPO.

Don’t get me started on her.

I know, I know, the new RDX is everything everybody wanted and I am glad Acura listened, that being said, the buggy headlights bug me... Dash is a little too busy, Idk, looks too futuristic... Despite that, its a great choice, and definitely the perfomance crossover right now...
I think the Lexus is more refined, it looks really good imo, now, I've never driven one so that, I'm sure, is where they differ... It takes some time before I bagen to feel attracted to any certain design... I have to see it in use to understand the greater vibe and emotion from the designer is trying to make...
Seeing new RX's rip one with its torquie V6 makes me feel it...
RDX is probably better though...
Lex is more better, less, problematic...
New to Acura, oh, you'll find out hun!!!

I thought the jewel eye headlights were one of the best in industry.
Its definitely better than the triple beam headlights of RX. I would rather have a projector based LED headlights seen in lower trim RX than the triple beam though.
headlights of RDX are buggy...? Where did that come from? What do you mean? Is that a known issue here?

No, no, no!!! Sorry, should've phrased that better... Cosmetically, they're too big and fard back on tge hood... I.E. Hyundai Azera, Nissan Juke-ish? Maybe...
Both are great choices!!! Drive both...
I am really curious how the new RX handles with the F-Sport package, but I've been told its a still softer suspension....
I agree that the dash is a bit busy, but I have gotten use to it already after 3 days. I have also learned how to use most of the features during this period. Including the infotainment system. The only thing pending is to pair the phone to the system.
New to Acura as well, but have sat in friend's 2017 TLX and thought that it was well made (quite). I just sold my 2004 Toyota Highlander Limited and acquired the 2019 RDX A-Spec AWH. Our other car is the 2015 Subaru BRZ. I am close to 60 than 50 and in the computer networking industry, to give you a little background.
I was skeptical at first and did not realized the 2019 RDX is a redesign, but the look just grabbed my attention. After test-drive, my impression was that it is relatively quite and nimble. The inside is refined and solid overall. I said to myself that this is a well made car in the USA. The thought of not buying the first batch of a new designed car came across my mind several times, after fully inspected the RDX that I test-drive, I decided to buy it. I did not even know that it does not come with CD drive (USB thumb drive works just fine) and nor the spare tire, later.

Thanks guys for your opinions. I have made my mind with the RDX, mainly because of the sportier riding and cheaper price. I may consider RX for my next car. Maybe at that time I age enough, and not care about driving performance anymore.
Funny, now that I’m old and can afford it, I really appreciate driving performance.
I have the RX350 F-Sport and compared to the RDX, the RX definitely feels more solid. Just open the doors and close them. You get a nice solid sounding close. The RDX doors are lighter and have a thinner sounding close, but not quite tin can like close on cheaper cars.
well.. all these justifies when I look at RX350's front side and interior quality
I was seriously considering RX350, made many visits to the dealer to convince myself but NO.. I couldn't. Dealer realized my problem and told me that, "you are not going to see see front side anyways.. why worry?" I am like.. seriously ??

We test drove a new RX for the first time two hours before we purchased our RDX. The only advantage I could see it had was better standard wheels, and I was worried how my wife would adapt to the Lexus Infotainment system. We would probably have been almost just as happy with the RX, but I would have to turn my head each time I looked at the front end and we would be $7K poorer.
I should have said it exudes a premium feel. By your comment, you could have gone with a Hyundai Kona or Santa Fe as those are top safety picks. Do you really think those are well built cars? Ever since someone mentioned to me how the door of a cheap car sounds, I have always noticed it with every car I drive. Do you want a car that closes with a vault-like thunk or a tin can clank?

You don't like top safety picks? The Santa Fe is well built, FYI. The Koreans have come a long way

I didn't convey not liking top safety picks or needed to have the "most" premium sound. Sure Hyundai has come a long way, but they still have more recalls than the competition and the insurance loss results are no better either.
The 2019 Acura RDX Advance SH-AWD "exudes [plenty enough] luxury" for me.
And, geesh! Lexus nickles and dimes you for every last option or accessory that comes standard on the RDX for hundreds, if not thousands, of that green stuff that, contrary to fake news, doesn't grow on trees.
$640 to heat and ventilate the front seats? $200 to open the rear hatch hands-free? $600 for a head-up display? Et cetera, et cetera.
And why are we even talking about the RX350? Just saying...that car has 3 rows and its base model starts out above $5000-$6000 more than the base RDX ($43,570 vs. $37,300 for FWD and $44,970 vs. $39,300 for AWD).
And wait... The 2017 RX350??
