Tint in Houston Area

I know we have a couple Houston people here. Where did you get your car tinted and how much was it? I think the legal limit is 25% in Texas but I really want 20%. What % did you get and do you have problems passing the inspection? Thanks!

I don't remember the price but I like Allout Offroad on Murphy Rd. They did my TL 2 years ago.. call them for a price. A real quality place.

^they wont do anything other than legal tint tho; which is 25%

OP, you're going to have to look for a shady tinter.

Oops, my bad... I missed the 20% question. I prefer keeping it legal and off the radar to the cops.

I like keeping it legal as well.
when i had mine done, legal percentage was 35%....

then like a month later the law dropped it down to 25%..
Boy was I pissed!

Back in '96, I had a truck with legal tint here and moved to St. Louis.. had to remove the tint to get inspected.. they allowed no tint. I was pissed

What % did y'all get installed? I called a place I'm thinking about going to and they said they will only install 35% tint on the front sides because the car windows already have tint built into it so it lowers the %. They wouldn't install 20% on my car. What % is our windows from the factory?

^yes, no one will install 20% on your car, because it isnt legal. Unless, like stated you find a "shady" Tinter.

I dont believe the TL's came with tinted glass.
there might be tint in the glass, but its not a film.

This might be the first instance where I've heard of Texans not being trail blazing rebels. In NY anything below 70% is illegal, ask me what my tint percent is

Wait. I just got 35% installed at Star Auto Tint off 59. I got the CXP stuff. Looks good and keeps my car cooler so far. I think 35% is the legal limit now.

Try Thunder Audio/Tint on Bellaire. Right past Rampart. They did 20% all around plus a brow on my TL. They just won't give you a receipt if it's past legal limit.... >_>

auto manufactures do tint the windows with something in the glass.

From inside the car with all the windows up...u can see that even through the front window and side windows the transparency is the same...O_O so i have no tint?

again, it isnt a film and its MADE into the glass.
It has been measured before and i want to say its 70%
