RUF, where did this list come from? Car and Driver and Road and Track both have the 04 STi listed as sub-5.0 in the 60 and sub 14.0 in the 1/4 mile. Just wondering.

P.S. Your results may vary (as you know mine have--mostly the driver issue at the strip).

As for the 10th here and there . . . that's really how it's done in this business. There are very few big boost items and most are nickle and dime mods that get you the big difference in the end.

Case in point. I've done 3 speed related mods and knock 1/2 sec off of my times . . . each of them a 10th or 2 here and there. And with this mod, the pullies, headers and a couple of other tweaks here and there I'm hoping for another 1/2 sec. That'll put me right at 13.9-14.0 which is faster than most of the earlier Fast and some Super cars like a . . .

2002 Acura NSX 4.8 13.4
2000 Aston Martin DB7 Vantage 5.1 13.6
2001 Ford Mustang Cobra SVT 4.8 13.5
2001 BMW 540i 6-Speed 5.5 14.0
2002 BMW M3 4.7 13.4
2002 BMW M5 4.8 13.3
1996 Dodge Viper RT/10 5.0 13.2
1989 Ferrari Testarossa 6.2 14.2
2000 Ford Saleen S281 Supercharged 5.1 13.8
2003 Infiniti G35 Coupe 5.5 14.2
1986 Lamborghini Countach 5000S 5.2 13.7
1992 Lamborghini Diablo 4.5 13.3
2002 Lexus GS 430 5.8 14.3
1994 Mazda RX-7 5.3 14.0
2001 Mercedes-Benz CLK55 AMG 5.0 13.6
2005 Nissan 350Z 35th Anniversary Edition 6 Speed 5.8 14.3
1970 Plymouth AAR 'Cuda 5.8 14.3
2000 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am (WS6) 4.9 13.4
1987 Porsche 928 S4 5.5 13.9
2004 Subaru Impreza WRX STi 5.1 13.8
1997 Toyota Supra Turbo 5.1 13.6

All some of the fastest in their days . . and today . . . so every 10th makes a difference.

A stock TL runs in the mid upper 15s . . .

R&T: 04 STi = 4.9 0-60 and 13.3 in the 1/4 mile. Now we have to question RUF's other facts (except that he has beaten all comers in his class at the strip--including my lame ass all but once!).

Depends on where you go for the facts. These were all pulled from one source and each of them could point to a faster times from some other source.

As I said, one source and the others could point to better times. The times above are not representative of what the average driver will achieve. Those times are produced by guys who do this day in and day out and beat the snot out of the cars to do it. You yourself found out how hard it is to get even close.

Ah yes . . . . my one and only loss at the track . . . and what was worse is that you beat me off the line.

Yes, I've seen that report too, but I have encountered an STi on the street and it was a fairly close run . . . a sub 14 car should have taken me easily, but this was within a car length. But I know your modded STi would (should) eat my lunch.

Anyway. here's the link to the site with these and many more times.

Oh well . . . if I had the $$$$$ I'd have me a really nice sound system too, but speed comes before sound these days.

My old Malibu SS had both . . . the sound came from 2 Rockford Fosgate amps though a passive tuner . . . so clean power coming out of the amps to the speakers. I used to sit in the driveway listening to my tunes and my mother would complain about the walls viberating. When you turned it on it had this really cool"THWOOMP" sound as the speakers were loaded. Then when you turned it off it felt like your ears were being sucked out.

Ah, the good ol days.

Here's another good link that I refer to, but it is ONLY the fastest cars sold in North America.

You'll notice the R&T times for the STi as well as the one for the M3 that is 13.2 . . . and more importantly an ACURA is listed ahead of the STi . . . at 13.17

You'll also notice that the 3 fastest are 60s model Muscle Cars

Man aint the the truth . . . . I used to rock and race all night long. SIGH!

The only time I turned off the sound was when I was actually racing or going very fast for longer stretches. You got to hear what's going on and focus on the task at hand.

RUF--I'm not done :smileslikedaleearnhart: yet. I noticed your top two cars on the second list are in the 10.5 times--but nobody else lists those cars at those times. On the first list, I noticed the 2001 Chevrolet Corvette C5-R was 10.3 in the 1/4 (but try buying one or getting it registered on the street--you can't). I also noticed that Car and Driver lists the fastest street cars 0-60 in 1968 and 1969 as 5.3 and 5.1 respectively. There is no way you can get sub 11 seconds without a sub 4 second 0-60 (prove me wrong), so what gives? If those cars are the drag racing specials that were only available to race teams (much like the C5-R), then they don't count (or, if they do, then we should be able to count the 2002 Lingenfelter Corvette 427 twin turbo that pulled off a mighty 9.24 in the 1/4 mile).

Of course this makes as much sense as debating who would be better in bed, Brittney Spears, Paris Hilton, or Pamala Anderson--each has their strenghts and weaknesses, some are closer to "stock" than others, and there is always the "fun to drive" factor we have to consider! Not to mention that maintenance tends to be a bitch on those models (although checking the oil maybe the most rewarding of any ride out there).

Hey RUF, don't worry 'bout that little bump--it's just racin'....

Cheers!!!!!!
