[QUOTE=trancemission]Yeah, 40 dollars will fill up your gas tank these days, thats about it.

I think the majority of the people on this thread are not tryin to shave fractions of seconds off there 1/4 mile times. I think they just want to hang out and learn a little more about there car. QUOTE]

Not too sure about that . . . if we took a poll of who has modded for performance you'll find most have . . and those that don't even have their CLs/TLs anymore are buying faster cars . . . so I think it is about performance first. Everything else is a bonus.

That works for me . . . we need to get the big meets done soon. Soccer qualifying tournaments are coming up in August, but mostly on weekends . . .

I will agree with you to a point. I think a good percentage of people mod there car for performace. But my point is that I dont think that people are really worrying about precious .10 of a second gain in there mod. Now if I grew up around that environment like yourself I think I would be singing a different tune. But you're right.....to each there own. I wrote all of that because you said:

For the record, I was just saying that it "seemed a bit high" more than anything else -- on principle alone. Yeah, $40 isn't much when I tend to drop $100+ on a very regular basis on nightly entertainment of one kind or another.

tell me about it. I dont go to every rave (which is really not a good word for it anymore) out there. TBH I think my wife and I have only been to two of them in the past two years. Im more into just making badass CD's for everyone. The last time we went my bar tab was 300 bones. That was four of us.

I have nothing but the most admirable respect for Mark. Each and everytime we've met Ive learned from him. He is a wealth of knowledge about these cars. I now drive my car a little differently (from time to time) thanks to him. Shit, I wasnt even thinkin about performance mods till he started planting seeds in my head. LOL!

As for the 10th here and there . . . that's really how it's done in this business. There are very few big boost items and most are nickle and dime mods that get you the big difference in the end.

Case in point. I've done 3 speed related mods and knock 1/2 sec off of my times . . . each of them a 10th or 2 here and there. And with this mod, the pullies, headers and a couple of other tweaks here and there I'm hoping for another 1/2 sec. That'll put me right at 13.9-14.0 which is faster than most of the earlier Fast and some Super cars like a . . .

2002 Acura NSX 4.8 13.4
2000 Aston Martin DB7 Vantage 5.1 13.6
2001 Ford Mustang Cobra SVT 4.8 13.5
2001 BMW 540i 6-Speed 5.5 14.0

1989 Ferrari Testarossa 6.2 14.2

I've heard the group buy is almost done and we should be getting a 10% discount, which is better than the 5% we were told early on. The regular price is $95, so that's $9.50 savings for each one, which is to be contributed to the food and drink pot for the Mod Meet.

Now if I grew up around that environment like yourself I think I would be singing a different tune.

See this is what Im talkin about. I really dont care about any of that and you are the first person that Ive met who does. I will not rule out the fact that if I took my car to the track I might just have an interest in bringing my 1/4 mile times down. But believe me when I tell you that if I get this GT 500 the last thing Im gonna be thinking about is what 1/4 mile times it will get. Im gonna be on the tollway eating up snobby bishes in there beemers just to bring them down a notch or two.
