I was referencing that not changing your engine oil to transmission fluid as old fluid overtime breaks down and cannot lubricate properly. Reguardless of interval, 5k for oil or 60k for transmission, your replacing it because it cannot sufficiently lubricate and has debris in it. The debris doesn't necessarily loosen up with new fluid, it can but isn't the main cause. I highly doubt your transmission failed because of a clogged filter. Never seen that, I've had a lot of discussions with my transmission guy. I rebuilt some, some pistons crack causing an internal leak and not enough pressure to build on a clutch pack, bands break or wear out, clutches slip, bearings wear out and debris gets in the tranny and causes valves to stick, torque converters can have internal failure and have the impellor lock up, most transmission failures are not caused by a filter being clogged. Not trying to argue, but use logic. I am a mechanic... I know your not an idiot and not trying to call you one, but there are a lot of things that can go wrong in a transmission. A filter containing debris is the result of an issue

I'm going by what 3 different people told me. 2 of them are friends. 1 use to race with Jotech and worked on Hondas for 7 years. 1 has been a mechanic for Acura for 16 years and was with Honda for 6 years before that. The third is they guy that is building the tranny for me and has been rebuilding trannys for almost 30 years. When I told them the symptoms and about the fluid change they pretty much all said the same thing. Honda transmissions are notorious for being temperamental. And the actual working surface area for the internal filter is a joke.

If you're willing to take a mini-trip to Burleson, there's a great (and great price) guy, Aaron, who will fix you up. He's got a good team at his fabrication shop, and specialize in chassis/suspension work. Licensed too!

Got the car back today. Shifts better than it did before it crapped out. He modified the lockup system so it is better than factory. Entire master overhaul kit and new convertor installed. $1700 out the door. And I brought him all of my new motor mounts and the new subframe mount and he put them in at no extra charge!!!!!!

So I spoke with him and he couldn't help me with my situation. Honestly he didn't sound too interested and immediately hit me with the "I don't do frame work" as soon as I mentioned I wanted to get my sub-frame welded.

I have a feeling not too many welders are going to be interested in helping me out. This sucks

I was gonna ask how much he charged you, but you already said lol. So he rebuilt it, with Honda rebuild kit or no? Im looking at a 6th gen accord that needs a tranny as a daily. Its supercharged tho. Does he "build" them to hold more power? Id wanna run better trans fluid like redline or something if I rebuilt it. Got a # or shop name I can call?

What is the issue? Is your subframe broken at a weld?

The kit he used is better (a little stronger) than the Honda stuff. He told me I can use whatever fluid I want now as long as I add Lube Guard (the black bottle one). He also said to do a 3 quart change every 25k. He also builds racing trannys, so Im sure he could build yours. He is a super nice guy and doesnt bullshit you.

Is it your rear sway bar ripping itself away from the sub frame?

I know a guy at Kens mufflers named Gary. Look him up.

He fixed mine. It was an ugly fix but functional.

Reputable shop in Dallas

Anyone have any recommendations for a reputable shop that is reasonable in the Dallas area? Need to get AC recharged and power steering pump fixed. Thanks!

Yeah we need to have a get together guys! My car has been under construction. Got half the interior ripped out in the process of building a wood floor for my air ride I have. Still waiting for my tank to get finished and a few things from Accuair and Airtekk. So yesterday I bought another car... it has a blown tranny, and I about stole it, well I did pretty much haha 2000 Honda accord v6 coupe j30 automatic. Its a little rough all over, but overall a great car.
Here is the mod list:
-Comptech supercharger
-Comptech headers
-Comptech titanium strut bar
-Comptech billet oil cap $
-Tenzo billet ps reservoir cover
-Greddy catback dual exhaust
-Tein coilovers
- 2 10' subwoofers and 2 amps
-momo shifter

I haven't really gone over the car yet, left it at a friends shop for the mean time. It may have a down pipe and other mods but I haven't looked it over. Full custom trunk setup, black leather interior, and the car is silver. It used to say comptech on the sides and owner said it used to have a 6spd swapped. It leads me to believe the car may have been raced or sponsored by comptech at some point. Not sure yet. Hopefully I can get it drivable soon. Need to get the transmission rebuilt or replaced first. Car starts but is stuck in gear and cont rev over 2k. Goes reverse in reverse and neutral haha

Well give me his # so I can hit him up. Don't really trust anyone with transmissions. Don't wanna put a lot of money into the car either. Still under debate whether to keep it or not. Need a daily but bought it specifically because it has mods out the wazoo! Comptech supercharger, comptech headers and j-pipe, greddy exhaust, comptech 4 point titanium strut bar, comptech billet oil cap, billet ps reservoir cover, tein ss coilovers, front and rear suspension technique sway bars, a lip kit(kinda meh), and a full badass sound system. Head unit, all infinity kappa speakers, 2 10" eclipse subs and 2 Rockford fosgate 600 watt amps in a custom trunk enclosure behind plexiglass and lit up with blue neon lights haha.

Anyone interested in some parts for the 3G TL? Trying to return the car back to stock before I sell it. Got a new car.

Would rather deal with locals to avoid shipping costs.

All these parts are installed on my 2008 Base model TL

Here's a list of items I have for sale and price. All items are currently on the vehicle and will need to be removed when I have time (Either after work or on the weekend)

I do not want to flood this thread with pictures so I will provide pictures upon request. Feel free to PM me or text me for faster response @ 972-824-7494 for pictures
  • Valentine 1 Radar Detector - Only comes with suction cup mount. You will have to buy your own hardwire kit or cigarette power wire. $200
  • Uncald4 10" subwoofer enclosure. Custom made to fit perfectly in the 3G TL trunk corner to give you maximum trunk space - $200
  • Alpine Type-R 10" (SWR-10D4) - Installed in the car for less than 1 year now. I hardly ever turn the volume over 25. - $120
  • Alpine MRV-M500 Mono amp - Installed the same time as the Type-R sub. - $120
  • If Uncald4 10" enclosure, Alpine Type-R 10" sub & Alpine MRV-M500 amp is purchased as bundle it will be $400.
  • Supercomputer White Illuminated Door Sills - $140
  • Progress 24MM rear sway bar - Swap + $100
  • Trade my NBP Type-S A-Spec rear BUMPER for your 04-08 NBP Base model bumper - Looking to swap the whole bumper, not just the lip kit. My rear bumper has a slight paint chip, nothing horrible. Will send pictures upon request. Swap + $200
  • NBP Type-S trunk lip spoiler (some people call it a decklid spoiler) - $200
  • Trade my Type-S factory quad exhaust system for your 04-08 base model exhaust (I would like to sell my Type-S rear bumper before I do this swap) Swap + $400 cash from you.
  • If buyer wants to swap 04-08 NBP Base rear bumper & exhaust for my 07-08 Type-S modified rear bumper + Type-S quad exhaust it will be $500
  • USR Side markers - These are NON-Switchback. They illuminate WHITE in the front and RED in the rear - Swap + $60
  • Custom 07-08 Tail lights. These were painted by AckTL05. The bezel that used to be red is now painted NBP. Would prefer 07-08 tails for swap but will accept 04-06 "all reds" as a swap also. Swap + $160
  • WeatherTech Digi-Fit BLACK Floor liners Front & Rear - $120

Hey guys, I've tried searching and couldn't really find much info on what I need. I have about 116,000 miles and I believe it's time for a new clutch. It doesn't feel like it's slipping but whenever I do a high rev shift, the clutch pedal feels very heavy until I pump it about a couple times. I'm assuming it's the clutch but I've read that it could possibly be the master and slave cylinder. Anyhow, are there any shops you guys recommend in the DFW area?

Yeah the clutch is operated off the slave cylinder, and the brakes the master cylinder. First check the clutch fluid reservoir and see if you have any fluid in it, you might wanna try to bleed it. It may need to be replaced but if you want to go to a shop to look at it I would just go to the dealer for diag and go from there depending on what needs to be done. Might just get it done there. Don't know of a whole lot of shops off the top of my head since I do all my own work.

Look up the clutch slave cylinder mod. Mine does the same thing. There is a check valve in the slave cylinder causing a slight delay. You can pull off an eclip and remove the check valve and teh vehicle will operate like a normal clutch. Only reason why they do that is for 1. People that cannot drive manual 2. the factory clutch is unsprung so it is slightly harsher if you do not operate it correctly.
