wtf is with my Firefox??

For some reason some images on AZ are blurry on Firefox.... I thought my eyes were going bad. But then I opened AZ on Safari and IE and they looked fine. Someone know what's going on?

Firefox

IE

If you pay attention to the font on the ACURAZINE banner and the RJ banner, they look fuzzy on Firefox and smooth on IE. Firefox ftl???

yeah had this same issue a couple weeks ago... had me going and for a little while...

This is what was going on with mine:

Firefox 3 has this glorious (read: :ghey: ) feature where when you zoom text in or out, it also zooms the pictures. Set your zoom to regular and your pics will look OK. It's also entirely too easy to zoom in or out with the mouse wheel while holding CTRL...

Firefox rant....

click on a picture and it loads on the screen in full-size - meaning, it's in the cache.

if you try to save it, Firefox downloads it again. WTF????????? soooooooooo stupid.... esp when you are working with images in the 10+ MB range... but it also does this with smaller pics too. The fact is, if the image is loaded on your screen, it's ON your computer already, in a temp file. No reason to have to download it again to save it.

anyone know a way to have it not do that?

Firefox works with a download manager, yes when you open the page you see it, it is in your cache. But it's the d/l manager that controls saving all d/l's.

sometimes, when viewing a direct url to an image, a window shows up asking to open or save. if the file is big sometimes, it downloads and saves it as a temp file.

the problem is, IIRC, it wasn't like this with 1 and 2.. and they had the download manager box as well.

Still FF is the best browser, I recommend FlashGet for all of your downloads, it's free and super fast downloads.

Srika, I guess you can stop the cashing so it doesn't preload, type about:config in the address bar, there are some variables that you can tune to your advantage.

no I want it to cache - and it is doing so - when I click save on a pic, I want it to save that cached pic, not download it again.

I will see if Flashget changes anything about that behavior - thx

while I've heard about firefox being a resource hog, lately it's been making my machine realllly slow and seems to be taking up tons of memory (CPU usage goes to 100% and the culprit is firefox.exe) Gets worse with multiple tabs. Doesn't happen all the time, but it's still a problem, and is at its worst when there is video involved, e.g. when multiple tabs of youtube are open.

Any suggestions?

^ if your firefox eats 100% CPU, it is safe to assume your computer needs updating....

Check you msconfig, start up services, you probably have a lot of BS processes running...which makes Firefox go crazy.

do you have addon's loaded? if so, try firefox (safe mode) to troubleshoot. Link to safe mode should be under programs > mozilla
