Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor...
... does it work at all? I downloaded it yesterday, left it running overnight, and this morning it was still not finished scanning my computer!
I rebooted, left it running while I washed the car, came back and it was still working. The Task Manager showed zero CPU use... I think the software is buggy.

What are the specs on you computer.
I have run it on multiple machines, all the way down to a dell GX150 and it ran fine
Real useful.
Have you used it at all, or are you just a mac person.
As I have stated in other threads I have been using it for 6 months and it is much better then XP. And I plan on installing it on one of my machines as soon as it goes RTM which should be Nov 8 (actually it will have to wait until just before Thanksgiving as I will be in India when It comes out.)

I have been dual booting XP and Vista RC2. Vista is such a resource hog compared to XP. My hard drive is always doing something I'm running Vista, even when I'm just idling. And there are still many bugs so I'm prolly not gonna get it til they release SP1.

Driver problems software problems... not that vista doesnt work software being 3rd party, games apps etc. I really like the side bar thingy(dont know what its called.) But like others have said Vista is a resource hog, more so than XP which I used to think was bad coming from 98 and 2000 pro. I do like the solitare game on Vista though... lol. When more drivers and software comes out that supports Vista I will prob use it more but for now it sucks compared to XP. I go to K-State and our IT department wont support it and says they will never use it on any of their machines on campus. Sorry if I offended you but I just dont like Vista.

Having written that... I have Win2k on an old laptop at home and they were still including Win2k security updates through the October Windows Update batch - so yes they are still supporting it as of this point - just don't try to call and open a trouble ticket with them for it I guess...

I haven't had a BSOD since Windows NT. I agree with above comments about Windows Vista not being necessary for work machines. I came from a manufacturing and law firm background and ever since Win2k the enhancements for business computing - the way people do it in the real world - have been minimal.
WinXP was nice in that it was faster to boot and had some other speed enhancements - like client side DNS cacheing, etc., but the main selling point for Windows Vista is Aero.
Don't get me wrong - I'll probably buy it and use it at home, but at work for a purchasing agent using Oracle - or a paralegal hammering away on her keyboard this is not worth spending your money on.
Most savvy companies have learned to ride out the desktop OS until there's no more support for it because they know the cost and upheaval that will be done to productivity when they introduce the new OS to the workers. It's a huge pill to swallow for any organization - from purchasing equipment to training personnel. They also know that for their application the new OS brings relatively little increased benefit to the table.

I had one driver from Xerox that every 3rd print job I would send to the network printer would BS my machine.
I do not think that I will upgrade to vista until someone somehow forces me to.
1 gig to 10 gigs with no major feature upgrades that are important to me
They dropped WinFS making it (still) the only OS without journaling file system

I have one computer with SP1, and the software it runs is not compatible with SP2. I'm waiting on word from the company on Vista compatibility.
The computer I ran the software from MS has specs twice as good as the min requirements, so it should be good to go (Win XP SP2).

The problem with type 3 drivers was that they typically weren't very pretty - with the nice GUIs of the type 2 drivers.
