Windows Question (good one)

I auto hide my start bar in windows on the left side of my screen. My job requires viewing many lines of code and i need my full 1600x1200.

Anytime I get an IM (MSN messenger) the damn thing (start bar) pops over half the screen and turns the IM selection in the start bar blinking orange.

How do I stop this??? (without strangling anyone)

All the developers where i am use it to communicate, so that's not really an option.

Why do you have the start menu down the left side instead of on the bottom?

Is there no option in Messenger to turn off the Notification options?

Left side allows me to see full program names, I usually have 5 command windows and 2-4 .NET projects open at once, not to mention version control and editing software.

Anybody got a reg key to help me out or anything???

So? Leave it at the bottom and then just stretch it so its 2 or 3 levels high.

Do you rotate your monitor so its Portrait?
