Where to get Windows XP "declawed"?

Argh.

We need to install Windows XP on one of our lab computers to test some software we're publishing, but we're having all kinds of problems with the initial registration, because our IT dept. won't let us make a connection out of our network (long story).

So we figured the best solution is to keep our official (legal) copy of Win XP, but install a hacked version that doesn't try to register on installation...

Question is, where can we get one? Any clues?

If you have a legal copy, why don't you use the telephone activation?

Since I was wondering this myself just now, I decided to look it up. Much to my amusement, it's really totally stupid. This is straight from the MS Office FAQ:

Q. What does "XP" represent?

A. XP stands for "experience"—specifically, an exciting new set of experiences enabled by this new release.

http://www.microsoft.com/office/faq.asp

Oh and in case you're wondering, NT stands for "New Technology"... the reason they dropped the NT name is because it wasn't really new anymore, it's pretty much the same NT platform they had for the last decade

Supposed to, if you did that and have a firewall like zonealarm that tells you about any traffic that is trying go out from your PC, you could be sure,.
