What Windows programs could you not live without?
I was sitting here admiring a few programs I use nearly every day and realized we don't have a "great windows programs" thread (at least not one I could find...).
So, what programs could you not live without?
ME:
7zip
TerraCopy (I heart you)
Outlook
IrfanView
(probably others, these just were on the front burner)

Sell me on IrfanView. That used to come bundled with PCs back in the day and I'd just uninstall it, never used it. In my mind it's on the level of Cyberlink Power Director Studio 10 Pro. Why am I wrong?

It's like VLC player for images. Shows ANYTHING.
Good if you need to review lots of TIFF files, etc... Download it and look at the list of possible file associations.

Paint.NET for quick and dirty photo editing
Atmel Studio for messing around with various small electronics
+1 for PowerDirector 10
Hondata FlashPro Manager, a must have for my S2000
And finally, if you're on Windows 8, get 'Start 8' which gives you a Start Button and eliminate all the stupid full screen menus.

Steam. The only reason I would ever install Windows.

I LOVE irfanview, I install it on every PC I use and build. Best photo program out there for what I do, I've used it forever. Most pics I post on here are formatted somehow in IV, and all avatars

I think FastStone Image Viewer is better than irfanview. FastStone is like ACDsee before ACDSee started bloating up like anything made by Adobe.
And speaking of Adobe, I use Foxit PDF Viewer because it's lighter weight than Adobe Reader and includes a PDF printer. Much better than the PDF Architect and printer Sourceforge package.
I used to use Zoom Media Player, but have transitioned to VLC. I still use LeechFTP and haven't found anything that does FTP better.

anachostic, what makes LeechFTP better than, say filezilla? I have not used leech, just wondering if I am missing something...

I remembered I tried this once looking for a replacement. It's the UI interface I can't live with. Functionally, I'm sure they're just the same.
LeechFTP combines folder and file view in one panel and organizes queue and threads in a small panel to the left.

- Notepad
- Chrome

I thought I was going to have d/l Filezilla to see what the differences were and when I got to the site and clicked screenshots, I saw:

If I had to reinstall my computer, the first few apps I'll install are:
1) SecureCRT - tabbed windows FTW.
2) irfanview for pics, lightroom for editing, KMPlayer for video.
3) ultraedit for editing anything vaguely important/complex. (Notepad for quickies)
4) at work: Microsoft calculator plus. It's Basically the xp calculator. I HATE the layout of win 7's calculator.
5) Display fusion - keep windows/taskbars on multiple monitors organized.
I used ACDSee for years and years before they got bloated and expensive. Shame.
My browser of reluctant choice is Chrome but it gets worse and worse in terms of memory/cpu bloat. I semi often have to just kill the whole damn thing and restart it to restore performance. Infuriating. I'd love a light nofrills browser recommendation.

Ok, found an AWESOME tool for you Excel power users... and it's free...
Here is the situation:
Person A made a spreadsheet with all your client's names and the main contact person at the client, but person A is a lazy douche and just typed "Walmart" instead of "Walmart, Inc.", "Target" instead of "Target Corporation", etc so you have NO way to make the list Person A made (the douche) to the list person B made where the DUNS number, internal account number, etc are listed because person B is not lazy and typed the actually correct corporate name for the client.
Vlookup, blah blah, IF condition, blah blah...
I present....
FUZZY LOOKUP.
It will match two different data sources with fuzzy logic and provide a "similarity score".
"Walmart, Inc." compared to "Walmart, Inc." would be a similarity score of 1.0
"Walmart" compared to "Walmart, Inc." might be a similarity score of .89
Here is the download from MS: Download Fuzzy Lookup Add-In for Excel from Official Microsoft Download Center
And here is a Youtube video showing it in action:

Was just sitting here loving on TeraCopy as I copy ~2TB to a backup USB drive and was going to post it, but realized I already have...
