What is a good inventory software

My family owns our own business, and I am looking to get some dedicated inventory software. So far we have just been using Excel to keep track of inventory. It's a small business, so I don't need a full-fledged software. Do you have any suggestions?

Whatever you do, don't get Number Cruncher. It is supposed to work with Quickbooks, but it SUCKS BALLS. After 2 years, our accounting people still can't get the damn thing up and running. Waste of money.

Honestly, there aren't that many options for really small businesses. Everything costs a lot of money. How small are you?

Does salesforce.com offer anything that provides the ability to keep track of inventory?

Our total inventory is probably 5,000-7,000 at any given time, but there are I'm guessing around 100 different items. So it's small enough that I've been able to get by using Excel.

Not that I know of. We use that too, but it's basically for customer information and leads, not inventory.

We (mainly) sell embroidery hoops for commercial embroidery machines, and mostly wholesale, not retail.

Not saying this is good or that you should implement this... it's just what I turned up with a search.

Thats the first thing that came to mind, plus you can probably find an inventory template within access, or online somewhere for free. All you would have to do is modify the inventory types in the tables.

I've only used it a dozen times, but I can definitely learn.

Yeah I searched Google too, but there were so many options and I hadn't heard of any of them so I decided to ask here. Plus, we don't use a barcode system, it wouldn't serve our purposes as much. But thanks for the suggestion.

I'll look into that, thanks.

you might want to look into MS Access. If you have Access on your computer, it has some builtin templates for inventory. I've never used it so i can't tell you if its good or not. But since its free, i think its worth a shot anyway. You can also download some free templates from MS's website (through Access).

For your application I would suggest getting someone to create you something in MS Access or even learn to do it yourself. I have tons of templates that I had my brother create for my inventory applications and they work great. Working with Access warrants you the ability to change it any time you want to rather than working with a preset application off of the shelf.

Alright I downloaded the Inventory template for Access. I took a quick look, it may work OK after some customization. Farrukh, if you don't mind, if you think you have a template or two that I might be able to use, could you e-mail them to me?
