It's fantastic for uploading large amounts of data... like a large quantity of high-res images.
wth.. Ok so I read this topic and called Cox of Northern VA. Upgraded to Premier Package which is I believe 15 down 2 up. First 6 months I pay $20 a month or its $20 off, either way a great deal. So everything seems good to go but checking my speed shows 7 down 1.7 up. I call them back tell them one of the tech support guy didnt refresh my modem so this guys does it and says it should be good now. Checked it again still at 7 down 1.7 up. What gives??

That's the 1 thing I like about Verizon. I have always gotten the speed they say they are giving me.
well.. The reason why Im getting 7 is that I just upgraded my connection. Ill be paying $15 dollars more in 6 months. I do have a router but i dont think my i should be getting only have what im paying for
You will rarely get the advertised speeds at your computer. The Fios speeds are so good because, as was stated, Verizon brings it nearly to your computer. the best the cable companies can do is get the speed to their concentrators and hope for the best over the LONNNNGGGG cable to your house. I have Comcrap now thats supposed to be 2/800K or something and I NEVER get better than 800K download...Can't wait to get the house and do Fios!!!!

Crap! What a teaser - it said - High Speed Internet is availbale to your home...I'm like yea-boy!!!!!..then underneath it says FIOS is not available in your area, but DSL is! Jerks! Then I ask to be notified and I get this....

So I got the UPS Express Envelope today offering the two FIOS packages (the fiber junction box was installed in our front yard a few months ago). I'm thinking about going with their 5/2 plan for $34.95 but I have AT&T CallVantage VOIP using a Linksys Wireless-G / VOIP router. Anyone know if I they can tie directly into my existing router? If they have to install their router and then daisy-chain mine off it, will that affect my VOIP service?

Got FIOS installed today and even with three digital boxes, an HD+DVR box, all the movie channels and 5/2 Internet,it was still $30/month cheaper than Comcast. CallVantage VIOP is working great and the picture quality on all the channels is outstanding.
Verizon just upped the speeds in my area.
It is now 10/2, 20/2 and 30/5. I'll have 10/2 in a couple of days, just need to call them.
BTW, even at 5/2, BitTorrent runs so much better on FIOS than it ever did on cable for me.

for 5 bucs less Optimum Online gives me:30mbps down
2mbps up
450 mb webspace
15 mail boxes with 1 gig storage per name
online calendar and some other free shit. But the speed is amazing.

I just got it today. The hard line is getting a consistant 15300 kbps down and 1800 up. I got the mid-teir package. The nice thing is that they re-wired my phone too and it's crystal clear now. They ran fiber right to the side of my house and now I'm considering the TV package too.
