Nice, I wonder what resolution it scans at, and whether that limits the speed at which you can move the mouse around.

Wow that thing is sweet. I am definitely picking one of those up when they come out if they are not crazy expensive.

Well the idea is cool but how is it in practical use? What is the quality of the scanner? Would certain material have a harder time scanning then others? I remember seeing this but seem very unpractical for normal usage.

Cool. I wonder how word manages to take the text and allow you to actually edit it from a scanned image though.

OCR

Optical character recognition, usually abbreviated to OCR, is the mechanical or electronic translation of scanned images of handwritten, typewritten or printed text into machine-encoded text. It is widely used to convert books and documents into electronic files, to computerize a record-keeping system in an office, or to publish the text on a website. OCR makes it possible to edit the text, search for a word or phrase, store it more compactly, display or print a copy free of scanning artifacts, and apply techniques such as machine translation, text-to-speech and text mining to it. OCR is a field of research in pattern recognition, artificial intelligence and computer vision.

and it's not done by word it's done by the LG software

That's some pretty impressive scanning software that it can stick that all together no matter how you move the mouse.

Agreed. That video demonstration had the best OCR performance I've ever seen.

Seems very cool!

I notice it is wired though. What happens if your document is longer than your cord reach? What happens if you have to lift up the mouse (don't ask me why you would, I'm just throwing things out there)?

Obviously it would be impractical if this were wireless. Battery consumption would be crazy and I'm not sure what type of hardware this takes.
