using a LCD tv as artwork
so my cousin recently reserved this $2000 artwork from japan. its a simple picture of a person and a elephant, i dunno dont ask. i told her instead of spending that money on 1 painting why not buy a 42" lcd that has the SD card slots on the side and put the images right on the card. this way she can change the image whenever she wants to. makes sense right??
now the question is, anybody know a TV that can do this? really does not have to have a tuner just a memory card card slot and slideshow capability.

If was for some thing like displaying her own photography. Sure.
Real art cant be appreciated as much on a TV or a poster. Its tactile, it has texture, its unique. Real art also can be an invest that goes up in value.

Sony makes (or at least made) some flat TV with media slots. But I wouldn't use a TV as a full time picture frame.
However I do like the small LCD picture frames that can be put on a desk at work. It's nice to see different pics of the family.

We did a job a while back in which we hung a 32" LCD over a stone fireplace. Also in the room was a 70" DLP. The 32" was connected to the computer in the upstairs office via component cables. I forget the manufacturer or exactly how it hooked up to the computer, but we had to install an external device that outputted the art from a slideshow on the computer to the computer via this device that switched to component video. It was a while ago so I don't remember all the specifics on this part. One thing that for some reason or another was accounted for during the planning process was that they picked out two tv's that are the same brand. When you turned on one with a remote, both turned on. We had to mask off the IR on the smaller tv. After we were done, a carpenter built a frame around the tv. I think it was all a lot of trouble just for some digital art. But it worked so something like that is always possible.

Digital pictures frames are wonderful. Small one on your desk is nice.
Bigger one hanging on the wall is even better. It's very nice to see a different picture
on your wall when you walk by. I will likely get one for my parents for christmas.
Digital paintings are kinda dumb, as said before. Texture in paintings is signifigant - oil, paint, pencil, etc. Very different look & feel.
Using a tv as a picture frame is overkill, but I can kinda see someone doing that - if the tv isn't being used to watch tv, why not show a picture on it? A dedicated unit should be cheap, however - In the end they really don't require that much functionality.

well we arent talking about a person who is into art or a deep person. she wants to fill a space with a picture she thinks is nice and peaceful. so why not have a different picture there every month and change it up?
im just trying to figure out if it would work and what brands if any, anybody knows that this would work with
