I've done it before and always ended up with a couple random errors.. Either at the very beginning or down the road.. Wouldn't recommend it..

or it may just say, this cd is for use in a dell computer only and not do anything

I believe I tried it before and it did not work. During the installation, the CD will read the BIOS and if the BIOS is not DELL machine, the installation will not continue..
Just my $0.02.
