Unlock Iphone
The unlocking of my iphone4 when it came out cost me 8$.

I'm checking today for my iphone6 and it's a 100$.

what gives? Am I looking in the wrong places? Can this be done for less money?

If it's a Verizon iPhone, it's already unlocked. If it's AT&T or Tmobile, they can unlock it for free after you meet subscriber duration requirements.

And why do people put the $ sign at the end?

The rules were much more lax before, now it's much harder to get past AT&T. Check eBay

To use it on a different network / travel with it and use it with a local sim. It's gotta be unlocked.

What carrier, and how long have you been with the carrier?

More info @ iPhone 6 SIM unlocking: All carriers will unlock your phone on Feb. 11 | BGR

Unless you'd rather pay.
