What's a decent gaming laptop cost these days? I assume it needs SSD, but what about video card, CPU/RAM, screen type/size? I see a few different NVIDIA cards in them but which one to get? This would be for a 9 year old and i'm not ready to let him play first person shooters.

My friend's brother just got this one when he said he mainly wanted it for PUBG (+$100 for one with a 256GB SSD instead of the HDD): Dell Inspiron 5577 15.6" Gaming Laptop Computer - Black I5577-5858BLK-P - Micro Center
He said it's been fine for his case, just the screen isn't the greatest ever - I imagine games for a 9 year old shouldn't be too demanding and would run on that alright. By contrast, same friend wanted a laptop for work (and ended up gaming on it) so I steered him towards an ASUS ROG laptop with a Core i7 and GTX 1070 - I think it was towards $1500. He said it handles whatever he throws at it.

New 8th gen Intel CPUs are out and combined with the new Nvidia GPUs, it's finally worthwhile to get gaming laptops that can be competent and not just really watered down desktop GPUs.
I'm seeing if I want to get a discounted 7th gen intel cpu or get the newest...probably just get the older 1 gen laptop cause I'm cheap.
Budget is 1500 or less if possible.
Requirements: 17" screen, 256GB+ SSD with 1TB HDD, GTX 1060 or higher, 16GB or more RAM.
Thoughts?
