Thinking about a laptop, need one for gaming.

Build a system comparable and show me. And I just showed you a topic that proves they are not overpriced. They use to be, yes, but they dropped their prices a lot over the last year.

Good discussion between MAC and PC. And the costs are actually cheaper on a MAC vs a PC system in some cases with the same hardware.
MBP again does just fine, and heat has never been a issue.

If you really want to continue this with me listing bullet points down a list as to why, I will. The hardware alone is once again inferior to anything else at that price range.
I've been doing PC gaming since the mid 80's, I've owned dozens of computers and I build my own. I've even built a couple OSX boxes, I know the ins and outs of the machines.
For the money, Apple is a ripoff. They aren't even Mercedes or Lexus, they're more like Saab. Offering a quirky alternative, complete with a GM powertrain (aka Intel these days)
In other words, they bamboozle people into thinking they're unique. Its all marketing.

Your topic is flawed as hell.
Hop on Sony, Asus, Acer even SAGER and you get much more for $1500

I just built a Dell Studio 15" with a worse video card than the one that comes in the MAC 15" Pro and that system came out to the same price as the MAC with a worse video card, before the $250~ discounts that Dell is offering right now. So if you count in the discounts, then yes a PC is a little cheaper, but price vs price, it is the SAME.

I really hope you didn't think that discussion was educational. Its more like something out of the Onion.
I bet my Mac will out perform your pc in gaming as well....

Did you actually select a gaming computer?

Again, how is it INFERIOR when manufactures are still selling them with that same hardware even on the upgraded systems till you get to the more higher end ones?
And that discussion is filled with flaws everywhere.

You want to match up, just the first laptop on Sager website, is better than a MBP 17" and hundreds of dollars cheaper.

there's no way that mac offers what a pc offers for the same price or lower. i can see why people pay the higher prices for the OS, apple-only programs and the design of the hardware case, but in my rough estimation the equivalent hardware macs will be 1.5x the price of a pc at least. there's no way they offer "value" for the dollar.

Thats a crummy Dell and its already superior to your Macbook for less money ($1350). I wouldnt trust a Dell for gaming though

A Mac Pro is never considered a Gaming machine. But for under $2k, it will be hard to get a actual good gaming machine. Just get a strong laptop that will perform well.

Hmm, where's the bluetooth, the 7 hour battery, and the O/S needs to be Ultimate to be equal to the O/S of the MAC.
PS, mine has a 500gb 7200 rpm HD.

Again, you have proven nothing is inferior. I just showed you a equally spec machine from Dell and it was equal to the price of the MAC.
The prices are equal for the most part for the same hardware.

7 hour battery? Why? Its a GAMING laptop.
Why does the OS need to be Win7 ultimate?
Home premium will run games just as well.
Are you in IT? really?

I know the differences. They are minor and not worth the additional costs. I had a XPS 17" 1730 Laptop for 6 months before I sold it to get a MAC to try and the MAC performs better than the XPS did and much lighter of course.

Home Premium might run games, but we are talking comparison here. OS-X has many built in stuff that Home Premium does not have, but Ultimate does. Do some research for a chance.
Pretty obvious I know more than you since I am actually pointing out the details while yours is just a opinion.

It was wiped twice. And it did not out perform it. Of course it had Vista Ultimate, but we don't need to go there.

Not per what you posted. Hmmm, gaming laptops barely make 1.5 hours if you are lucky. You need to get the big battery, so 7 hours might go 4-5 if you are lucky. It's a laptop, you need a bigger battery. If you want to compare a MAC Book Pro to the Gaming one you showed, then they need to have equal specs.
Home Premium might run games, but we are talking comparison here. OS-X has many built in stuff that Home Premium does not have, but Ultimate does. Do some research for a chance.

Therefore a pissing match about batteries is pointless. Its going to be plugged in most likely.
Fact: Equivalent Macbook Pro to Acer, Asus, Sony etc is going to be hundreds of dollars more. Even then, the Mac may be inferior in terms of processor and RAM bus speed.
Fact: What does Win7 Ultimate have over Win7 Home Premium that is gaming related? Nothing.

FACT: You have yet to prove me one like I showed you that a equally spec machine is cheaper than a MACBook Pro that isn't a off the wall brand like Asus or Acer. For that matter, go get a E-Machine.
FACT: Same as above, you need to compare O/S that have same features as each other.
This conversation started when you said the MAC was overpriced. When I am just correcting you. Yes this topic is about Gaming laptops, but that is not what our discussion at this time between you and I is about.

this is a QUAD core processor. it has 4 cores. it's one of the newest laptop processors available. basically, it increases it's own speed up until 2.8ghz as needed. it's decreases it's own speed if it's not needed to save power and for lower heat output. that's one of the reasons that this laptop is expensive.
This is going to take a couple days of research, I think.

Laugh. The MAC is fun to use and is a nice thing to not worry about issues when I have 4 other PCs at home I work on and about 200 at work that I must support myself at a school not including servers, the network, and all the related IT stuff. I will still own PCs no matter what in my life as I am not a MAC person but enjoy using something different at times.
People who make fun of MACs usually are ones who has never owned one or used one for a long time.

Ok, I'll bite:
Try and beat this in a Mac..
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834115679
Summary (for $1349 on Newegg)
Equivalent Macbook Pro is the 17" model which retails for $2,499.00
For another two hundred dollars I can probably find one that has a faster hard drive and better RAM.

Acer, Asus and Sager (if you want to spend the money)
Sony has a few good deals these days too. Worth taking a look and they're under $2000.

Like I said, when you buy a off the wall brand like Acer, then yes. That is like buying a Kia to a Nissan/Honda. Go try and get one from Dell, Gateway, Lenovo, HP and let me know then.

Acer is the second largest worldwide personal computers seller behind HP and ahead of Dell.[1] The company also owns the largest franchised computer retail chain in Taipei, Taiwan.[2]
Oh and I've had a few Acer laptops, they're just as good as anyone else.
