Should I get this Laptop? Calling all Computer/IT guys!

So in April of this year my mom got some special deal through her work for this laptop that she got for my sister but my sister doesn't want it cus she wants an Apple so she offered to sell it to me. I was planning on building a desktop for myself with a friend in a few months but I've always wanted a laptop (Plus, although my desktop is 6 yrs old and hella slow, it still fills my needs). Anyways, She said she'd sell it to me for $1040. If I did the configuration thing at dell.com correctly then it retails for about $2200, and this is only 4 months old and if brand new condition.

Anyways, here are the specs my sister sent me:

so did your mom buy this computer for your sister?

and if so, your sister wants to sell it to you even though she got it for free?

Last week I've built a system on Dell, Studio 15, with better video card, faster N-Wireless and a faster T processor for $1000.
Back to school sale I guess.

But most of that money that you see in XPS laptop that you have compiled is for software, which us, IT guys, umm, don't buy

I would buy this laptop from your sis, help her with the Mac Enjoy your new laptop! Good deal as you are getting the higher end glossy screen.

OK this part I've missed, she got it for free, and selling to her bro for $1000?
Hmm... my sis wouldnt do that to me. I bought plenty of electronics, that I'v passed on to my parents and sister without getting a dime, it's family. But that's me.

and I forgot to mention this, where your mom's work, and other places, they get between 25-45% of a discount depending on a institution, so the laptop was probably purchased for $700 by your mom. Your sister is a business major?

No No No. My sister paid my mom for the computer (mom just used her work discount - and she got it for about $1600). So no my sis did NOT get it for free.
