Setting up a network printer

Hey all,

How do I set up a XP laptop to print to a printer that is connected to a XP desktop? Both computers are sharing an internet connection. I know this is simple, I've done it before. I just can't remember how.

You have to have File & Print sharing enabled, then share your printer on the desktop. Add a printer on your laptop and you should get an option to add a network printer. It kinda walks you through it from there.

Something's wrong, are you sure it's on the same network? Right-click on "My Computer" and select "Computer Name". Verify that the workgroup names match.

Network places will only show connections that YOU have mapped.

After you go to "My Network Place" click on "View Workgroup computers" in the sidebar on the left to show computers in your workgroup (network)

A simple usb receiver and a wireless router will make all of that nonsense a memory...
