powerpoint to ipod..

i need to put a ppt presentation on 21 ipods and im thinking about re-creating the presentation using adobe captivate and exporting it as an avi and converting it to ipod.

is there a program that will do the powerpoint to AVI for me? or even to ipod format?

i need to preserve all the effects.

You can use Camtasia to make an AVI/MPEG of your screen as you go through the PPT, and then copy the AVI to whatever you like.

Don't forget that an AVI file is just a container format for holding video. The codec that's used to actually encode the content may come into play here.

The video section on the Nano specs page is pretty explicit on what formats are supported.

If you've got quicktime pro you can use that to go from avi to ipod mp4.

A little off-topic but on the same subject - you could also create a PDF from your powerpoint slides and put it on the NANO. This is in case you want to give them another marketing channel to see the slides on their computer by transfering the PDF to their computer when they hook it up to their computer as a data drive.

I just had another idea, could this be made into a podcast? rather than just a slideshow of slides on your ipod?

pretty much. If these are going to be marketing videos, a marketing podcast for your computer's service/product may be a good idea, and you can update the podcast from time to time. This is of course if iTunes allows you to create a podcast that is meant to be a marketing tool and not an "entertainment" tool.

The thing that should be of most concern really is that if these NANO's are going to go to people, and they will have the video already installed on them, once the NANO is synced with iTunes, it will replace anything that was on the NANO since the clients computer won't be the computer that was originally used to put the presenation on the NANO in the first place. At least that's my understanding of how iTunes syncs, please correct me if I'm wrong. There is no way to ensure that the video he'll put on the NANO will remain on it.

PDF is located on the website. the powerpoint was delivered over the phone so i am taking it and putting the powerpoint slides with actual transitions and voice over onto an ipod.

i am using camtasia and sending the video to final cut pro for ipod conversion and Voice mixing.

unfortunately, they wouldnt let me get too creative with this due to its origins (im not the creator of the presentation)
