I think it's pretty much considered the best game on the Xbox 360 better than Halo 3 and arguably better than CoD 4. You don't play video games I assume.

Do you have a lot of Asian music?
I guess the workaround is to manually convert each Asian word into English font. That's a pain in the ass though. You should email MS and complain maybe they'll add it in the next version. I don't think it'd be that hard to implement but since there isn't a big demand for it then they're spending there time on something else.

you can email the Zune team @ askzune@microsoft.com
I just sent them an email about this you should too.
here's what I sent them
I have a couple songs on my Kill Bill soundtrack and the artists names are some asian font and you are correct the are not supported on teh Zune. Each character appears as identical rectangles this doesn't happen in iTunes and it shouldn't happen in Zune!!!
I just sent them an email about this you should too.

When do you plan on adding support for asian fonts for the Zune. If I had a lot of asian music it would be impossible to recognize since there is no support for asian fonts. This seems like something very easy to implement and you're doing a disservice to your customer by not supporting as many fonts as possible. I understand that the Zune currently isn't available in Asia but there are many Americans that listen to Asian music but the lack of font support makes it very difficult if not impossible on the Zune. Please address this asap.

_____ like a rabbit
apparently there was a patch for Asian fonts but it gets erased when you update the firmware

Is this the Death of the Zune as we know and love it?
Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer just mentioned during an interview:
Why has Microsoft developed Zune?
Ballmer: At the end of the day, one of the big trends is that all content is going digital. And if we don’t have the software and services that are useful, helpful and valuable for the consumption of music and video, we are sort of not really a player. Now, we built the Zune hardware with the Zune software - and what you’ll see more and more over time is that the Zune software will also be ported to and be more important not just with the hardware but on the PC, on Windows Mobile devices, etc.
I said it earlier I hope that they drop Windows media and ship Windows 7 with Zune software like how Macs come with iTunes. I think others in the Tech world agree and are starting to say the same thing. Windows Media is garbage, you don't need a Zune to use the software and its arguable better than iTunes and way way better than WMP.

Zune 3.1 was released today with it comes stability/performance improvements and three new games, checkers, sudoku and space battle (asteroids?), Also the some improvements to navigating the social. Starting tomorrow the prices of the Flash Zunes will be dropping making them cheaper than the iPod, the 4gb will be $100 ($30 less), the 8gb will be $140 ($10 less) and the 16gb will be $180($20 less) just another reason to choose a superior product.

OK so MS just made the Zune Pass completely awesome!! Zune Pass a feature that has no comparison in the iPod world allows you to download almost any song you want from the Zune marketplace for only $15 a month, the only drawback is that you couldn't keep the music it is a rental service so as long as you pay 415 a month you can download millions of songs for one price. It just got better now, Zune is now allowing Zune pass subscribers (like me) to be able to KEEP 10 tracks each month!! That means each month I can pick out ten tracks to keep and put them on my iPhone or whatever and each month I'll be able to download 10 more tracks!!! So basically you're buyin 10 tracks for $15 a month and if you do that you can download millions of other songs to rent at no cost!!! How good of a deal is that!! Just another excellent reason as to why the Zune IS SUPERIOR to the iPod. So if you have a Zune you'd be retarded to no go out and get the subscription now!

Since most of their catalog (90% or so, including all the majors and a few indie labels) is already in MP3 format, you can load these free songs on any kind of device you want, like your iPhone or Android phone or PS3 or Wii.
They're also announcing the addition of Universal Music Group and Sony BMG to the MP3 DRM-less format (DRM-less as long as you buy the music), the last bits to complete their "majors" MP3 collection. We think the deal is hotness as long as you're OK with the fact that you're renting, not buying; well, you're now "buying" those ten tracks a month, in essence.

So I can go buy a CD or a digital album on its release date for around 10 bucks which usually has MORE than 10 tracks....but this Zune pass is such an amazing deal?

CD's are down to $10? Excellent!
While you're at the CD shop, ask if you can borrow a copy of each CD in their store so you can listen to them for a month. Tell them you'll give them $15 as a rental fee. See how that works for you.
How about if Netflix allowed you to keep six movies a year? Does that help?

Why would I want to "borrow" music? When I borrow music it consists of me borrowing the CD to rip it for myself and returning it to my friend.
How does $15 bucks a month to rent music sound like a good idea?

You can keep up to 8 movies from netflix for as long as you want. And the idea of renting movies is different than music.

The Zune Pass is an additional choice you have when choosing Zune. It may not be for everyone, including you. That does not mean it is not good for anyone.

Of course stealing is cheaper. But this isn't stealing, it's the best legal way to find millions of new songs. You could spend your time hunting through limewire if you want and probably get a bunch of trojans too while you're at it. Limewire is much more work and you get shitty quality most of the time 128k or less. With Zune you just type in the song and download at 192k or DRM free MP3 256k. You may think the Zune Pass isn't worth it but that's cause you haven't tried it. It's like being on a shopping spree, you walk into the music store and ANYTHING you want you can take with one click. So bands that you kinda like but you don't want to buy they're songs download them for at no extra cost or maybe a band you think you might like but you're not sure you can try them out in one click at no extra cost. Or how about those massive playlists that Zune makes like 80s music or "The best Rock nRoll EVAR" playlist that have 300 songs some you may want others you've never heard of but you can download all 300 in one click at no extra cost and try them all out. Now with bands that you already like but you don't have their complete collection you can get 10 songs to keep each month at no extra cost. If we're talking about doing things the LEGAL way and not stealing this way better than anything apple offers. I still think it's better than limewire cause it's sooo much easier, the quality is better, you get album art and there's no viruses or trojans to worry about. Everytime I go an clean viruses off people computers they've always gotten them cause they were downloading shit off of Limewire or bit torrent. Another benefit is that now you can access the marketplace over wi-fi on the Zune device even the $100 Zune so if you got wifi and you want to download some songs for the trip home from work you can and it's pretty easy and you can do it at no extra cost.
Last night I used my 10 free tracks on what else but Metallica. Metallica is one of the few bands that you can't download using the Zune Pass rental service you must buy them you can rent Metallica. So I used my 10 free tracks and bought (even though it didn't cost any extra) the DRM Free MP3 version of Master of Puppets with bonus tracks. So even songs that aren't available for download with the Zune Pass (over 90% are) you can still purchase those for free with your 10 free tracks.

I remember when my friend got rid of her iPod and got a Zune 8gb a couple months ago, when I hooked it up for her and signed her up for the Zune Pass she was pretty excited. She must've downloaded a couple hundred songs in like 15 minutes. Then I used the wifi sharing feature and transferred songs from my Zune to hers (that works really easily BTW) and after that she was set for her long trip back to Chicago! So far she says she loves her Zune.

The problem is that you are confusing your opinions with facts. I am not going to say Zune is a superior player as a fact, I am going to say it is better in my opinion based on features that are important to me.

There are other reasons I feel it is superior, too. You might disagree because those features aren't important to you, similar to the new benefit currently being argued.

Microsoft's Zune team, of all people, are allowing subscription music buyers to keep 10 songs a month from their subscription downloads. Their whole collection. And 90% of the songs you keep will be DRM free, with the other 10% (wimps) coming along shortly I SHOULD HOPE. The cost is $15 a month, so $5 more than the cost of buying the tracks individually. It's worth the cost of being able to really explore the musical landscape again while keeping the prospect of fully owning my music at the end of a day. All in all, though, it's much like when we were kids and the radio was the focus of my musical world.
When I was younger, I listened to Z100 as we drove from Jersey to Queens and would later pick up cassette singles at the local mall. Maybe I'm just old and crotchety now, but to me modern radio is a corrupt clusterfuck owned by the RIAA and Washington DC lobbyists, attacking helpful companies like Pandora that try to recommend new music based on our existing tastes. Industry power struggles aside, satellite radio has the same problem. It doesn't know that I hate the song it's about to play three times in two hours on a roadtrip. I enjoy the control of digital downloads, but miss the constant exposure to radio coupled with the conversations I could have at the record store: Fresh, timely exposure plus the occasional music purchase.
Of course, the subscription model isn't new. Subscription services combined with recommendation engines were a great idea, but ultimately not one that had many takers, because many people, including me, saw no reason to shell out money for music that would eventually and inevitably evaporate when the subscription ended. With this hybridized service, the new Zune Pass changes that. At the end of the day, you've got the structured presentation of iTunes/Zune software combined with the Mix recommendation engine with full access to an almost endless set of tracks that you can explore. And for the really special songs you want to play for your future kids, you can keep them forever and ever and play on any device you want, Zune or iPod.
The only problem I can think of is that 10 songs usually don't equal an album, and some might prefer to get $9.99 worth of credit to use on 10 tracks or an album. And for some of you, this being on PC only and Zune only will be a dealbreaker. Which is why I'm hoping this hybrid music sub/buy model spreads like wildfire.
Before that happens, I'm going to get Parallels/XP on my Mac and I'm switching to a Zune. But I hope other companies pick up this model, too, so I can use new and different ways to explore full music collections without paying a dollar for every track along the way.

So I'm seeing 120 GB Zune's around for like $230. Think it's a good deal or should I wait a month? Or maybe wait for one of those woot.com deals?
I want one soon though because I now have a way to hook it up through my car.
Any suggestions?

Flash Zune battery life:
Music, up to 24 hours (wireless off); video, up to 4 hours[2]
Charge time: 3 hours; 2 hours to 90 percent
Hard Drive Zune battery Life
Music, up to 30 hours (wireless off); video, up to 4 hours[2]
Charge time: 3 hours; 2 hours to 90 percent
ipod nano
* Music playback time: Up to 24 hours when fully charged
* Video playback time: Up to 4 hours when fully charged
ipod classic
* Music playback time: Up to 36 hours when fully charged
* Video playback time: Up to 6 hours when fully charged
ipod classic has better battery life than the hard drive based Zune cause it has a smaller screen and I find video almost unwatchable on it, not so on the Zune. Zune has a 3.2in screen and the iPod classic has a 2.5in screen.

I just put a Blitzsafe adapter on my CL, which adds an auxiliary connector through my factory 6-CD Changer.
What car do you have? They probably have something for it if it doesn't come with something factory installed.

I'm using my USA-Spec iPod converter that plugs into the back of my OEM dash unit, it has an iPod and Aux input but I'd like something that I could control the tracks with from my steering wheel and charge the Zune at the same time.

Here using the live.com cashback you can get an 80gb Zune like I have for as cheap as $155

I think you should just get the Zune 80 and save $80!! 80gb is still as shitload of storage for an MP3 player.
That's a DAMN good deal, you'd be stupid to pass that up!!
