ZuneHDcolumbus! If you just pre-ordered yours from newegg I'd cancel it and then re-do it and save $29!

Here's the link to paste into your browser. Even though it'll say 2.5% it's showing up as 10%

Thanks! As soon as it shows up in my account, I'll delete and re-order it. Out of curiosity, is yours showing up in your newegg orders?

I just saw this

Even more intriguing is the "Apps" option on the Zune's main menu, but Pinero said the company isn't ready to discuss what sort of applications will be available, how developers can participate or whether it will be tied to the new Windows Mobile apps store.
I haven't seen the Apps option yet on the screen in any of the videos or pics I've seen but they may've been saving this as a sort of surprise.
http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/htm...g_seattle.html

Apps were also brought up in the Engadget video I posted earlier. I knew they were going to be releasing an SDK but IDK when. It's based of of Windows CE believe it or not, IDK anything really about WinCE but I'm sure anachostic does and he'll be along shortly to fill you in on the programming potential.

For you guys that don't know this trick you can easily share music to and from another's PC using teh Zune and Zune software. If you connect a Zune to your friends PC that has the software installed it will ask you if you want to link your Zune with this PC, say no. Once past that you can browse the Zune software and if you see anything you like you can just right click on it and choose sync to Zune. It works the other way around too. If you click the device tab and choose music you can right click on anything and sync to computer.

Go to bing.com and type in newegg.

One of the sponsored links at the top will have a gold coin next to it. Click that. If you don't have a cash back account, you will have to create it.

You should see a screen that says you will earn 10% cashback on this purchase. Let the screen automatically redirect you to Newegg. Top right link at Newegg for Zune HD pre-order. Complete the transaction with that browser window only. Don't close and restart or anything.

you shouldn't see anything during the checkout process about bing cashback but if you didn't close that windows you should get an email from bing a little later telling you of your cashback sucess. FYI, that cashback isn't instantaneous it takes 60 days to show up in your cashback account which is linked to your paypal account.

Any idea what I should do with my old Zunes? I have too many PMP...

I have two Zune 30s, a Zune 80 I just bought not too long ago, and an Archos 604 that I hardly ever use.

I think their "working value" significantly exceeds their resale value because they're several generations old.

I'll probably keep my Zune 80.

Here's a cool video of the the ZHD docked to a TV. This thing is like a little portable media center.

<object width="400" height="270"><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true" /><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /><param name="movie" value="http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=6096791&amp;server=vimeo.com &amp;show_title=1&amp;show_byline=1&amp;show_portr ait=0&amp;color=&amp;fullscreen=1" /><embed src="http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=6096791&amp;server=vimeo.com &amp;show_title=1&amp;show_byline=1&amp;show_portr ait=0&amp;color=&amp;fullscreen=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowscriptaccess="always" width="400" height="270"></embed></object><p><a href="http://vimeo.com/6096791">Zune HD TV Interface Walkthrough</a> from <a href="http://vimeo.com/user562128">Gizmodo</a> on <a href="http://vimeo.com">Vimeo</a>.</p>

This is a way better experience than you'll get from an iTouch.

Of course. But you said you had 4. The options are use all of them or have at least some of them sit there doing nothing. To me, whatever dollar amount you get for the ones you're not using is better gain than getting nothing AND not using them. Just my personal opinion though.

Well that's why I was asking for any alternatives people might have had.

The only reason I have two 30's is because I was taking a series of long plane rides. Without any way to charge the batteries in-flight, I bought a second one. I probably should keep them for this purpose.

You might see an Archos 604 in the blackmarket soon.

Give all/some to friends/family/co-workers who don't have one and would get good use out of it. I dunno....I see any alternative to them not being used as a good one, regardless of dollar amount.

Ars Technica is reporting much better battery life for the ZHD. I had been hearing from MS employess that battery life was supposed to be much better than the current gen zunes so when the claim of 24hrs audio and 4hrs video came out I was all. That's exactly the same as the current gen Zunes, WTF! So Ars contacted MS and they reported back with much better battery of

Audio: 33hrs
Video: 8.5hrs

That's more like what I was expecting. I was hoping for 10hrs video but I'll take 8.5!

Zune accessories are 50% off at the Zune store. I didn't think much of it until I saw this:

SoundGate CORE™ System Package $29.99
https://zunestore.net/us/catalog/Acc...ar(ZuneCatalog)

I got mine.

I'm still using the AUX on my iPod adapter that goes into the cd changer in port on the back of my headunit. Then if I want to charge I have a car adapter that has a USB and an AC outlet on the end of it.

Only 10 more days!

It was recently announced that MS has discontinued the flash and hard drive based Zunes (Zune 4/8/16/30/80/120) and going forward the Zune HD will be the only version of Zune.

Also expect a new version of the Zune software (4.0) with some new features. I think MS is waiting until after Apple's 9/9/09 show to announce their new software. MS tried to do this last year but unfortunately all the info leaked early so they went ahead and made their announcement a day or two before Apple. This helped Apple a lot cause they were planning on making the iPod nanos in 4 and 8gb only but when Zune announced 8 and 16gb Apple had time to respond and announce 8 and 16gb. This was why there was a delay in the availability of the 16gb nanos last year but the 8gb were available immediately also why there where 4gb version of the nanos sold in other countries to clear out that stash.

Is win7 professional normally 99.99? Is it upgrade only or could I do a fresh install with it?

Thinking of buying windows for once if the price is that low. Don't feel like dealing with the activation hacks and having some updates from m$ disabling my OS.

That was the special limited time upgrade price. Normally the upgrade price is $200. There's a rumor that they will do the special upgrade price again as we get closer to general availability but don't hold your breath. You can get a W7 Home Premium upgrade for $120.

how much for a full version? 1 thing I really like with apple is osx is $99, at that price I'll buy it, but the upgrade price for windows 7 professional is $200 seems way too high to me.

well if you got a copy of XP or Vista lying around install that in boot camp and then you can upgrade (or clean install) your boot camp to Win 7 Home premium for $120. full version for home premium is $200 I believe.

you can also get an OEM version of Win 7premium but IDK what it will cost but definitely less than $200 (probably $150)

Un-freaking-believable. Strike while the iron is hot and completely miss the mark. It seems Zune HD is staying US-only. This is actually worse than before. Not even Canada gets Zune HD.

Seriously, what kind of licensing issues on Zune Marketplace content could Microsoft be having to prevent them from going global? It's a smaller marketplace than iTunes! They've had years to work these agreements out. I understand that it's not Microsoft's vision, but they could could still sell the Zune HD device internationally and disable the Marketplace for non-US users.

Son, I am disappoint.

Yeah I don't know what that's all about. The sell the old zunes in canada. They've got their Zune Marketplace on the 360 in a bunch of countries.
