So i have a PS3 and a blu ray player with Netflix support....I was told by customer support that I would need to get the 2 dvd package to be able to stream on both machines even if i was only watching one at a time? Is this true?

I was thinking of getting the 1 dvd package with blu ray upgrade...here's another question: If i get the 1dvd package with blu ray, is that 1 dvd IN ADDITION to as many streaming movies/shows I want to watch?

Thanks in advance...now that they support PS3, i am going to drop Blockbuster...

Yea I saw the list of movies you can watch online, but it is NOWHERE near the number of movies on DVD. Out of like 30 movies in my queue, only 2 are available to watch online...

I've got it and I love it. Wish I had gotten it much sooner. Cheaper and more convenient than BB. I get new movies within 2 days of returning the old one. Oh, and the Blu-ray selection can't be beat. Go for it.

Well, got my PS3 disc and Changeling in the mail today. I must say, the ability to stream via the PS3 is pretty nice. I've only tested a few movies to check out the quality. Some are good, some are pretty weak.

One thing I'm curious about is whether they have any HD content via the PS3 steaming? I haven't found one movie/tv show that was at least 720p. Everything is 480p .

Are you referring to on the website, or through the PS3 disc? If that's the case, I haven't seen it yet, but now that I know to look out for it, that's fantastic, thanks.

BTW I know about on the website that it will mention what format(s) it plays in (DVD, Bluray and streaming).

Ahhhhhhhhh, popped the disc back in and I see exactly what you're talking about, it's right below the movie itself, and you don't even have to click into the movie to see...f'n awesome!

go to the website and report a problem with the disk (there's a link to do that on your queue). They'll ship another one out of the same movie right away, even before they receive the other one back from you.

These discs get around. It happens. I've gotten a cracked disc twice. Sucks this was your first experience though hehehe

Thumbs down

Starting to lose my fondness for Netflix. First the blu-ray fees, which were reasonable. Then the increased blu-ray fees, which are excessive. And now they are delaying availability for New Releases.

This is
Netflix to delay renting Warner Bros. latest DVDs

SAN FRANCISCO – Netflix's 11 million subscribers will have to wait nearly an extra month to rent the latest movies by Warner Bros.

Under an agreement announced Wednesday, Netflix's DVD-by-mail service won't send out Warner Bros.' latest DVD and Blu-ray discs during the first 28 days after they hit the market.

The deal is a first for Netflix. The company expects to reach similar agreements with other major movie studios later this year.

The moratorium will give Warner Bros. a chance to sell more discs to consumers who can't wait to see the studio's latest home releases.

In return for the concession, Netflix will get a discount on Warner Bros. discs. And it'll be able to offer more of the studio's movies and TV shows for subscribers to watch over the Internet.

Yeah it's happened to me too but when it happened it definitely sucked. I was 3/4 through Death Race and it just stopped so I ordered another one and when it came it wouldn't load at all due to a visible crack. So 3 disc and a week later I finally got to see the last 40 minutes or so of that movie. LOL!

As for the delay on new releases that wont affect me because I never relied on them for new releases anyway. Mainly just old good movies I've never got around to watching or good non popular movies.

I've noticed this for a while now... why does Netflix delay the release of movies? A movie will come out on DVD but won't be available to ship out via Netflix for weeks after the actual release date. Here is one just for example: 'The Losers' came out on DVD on July 20 but isn't even available on Netflix until August 17 - a whole month later? wtf...?

They have made business deals with movies studios to not rent movies until after 20 or 30 days, Redbox is doing the same. It was a way to play nice for all.

What are the blu-ray fees, exactly? I can't seem to find anywhere on their site that details their pricing.

I love Netflix! I just do the 2 Blu-Ray DVD's at a time and it works out fine. The only con I have with my plan is that over the weekend it takes an extra day or so to get a disc, but it's really no big deal.

Netflix obtains rights to stream Paramount, Lionsgate, and MGM movies

http://news-briefs.ew.com/2010/08/10...amount/?hpt=T2

Netflix announced a deal Tuesday that will allow the online subscription service to stream movies from Paramount Pictures, Lionsgate, and MGM, according to The New York Times. In a deal that Wall Street analysts estimate will cost Netflix $900 million over the course of five years, the company purchased the streaming rights to the three studios’ output from the premium TV network Epix. The deal, which begins Sept. 1, will allow Netflix to add such movies as Iron Man and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button to its “Watch Instantly” library of online titles.

That's good because while I like the idea of streaming there isn't much in the streaming section of netflix that I really want to watch.

Seems like .01% of all their movies are streamable, and 90% of that .01% are older movies.

Say you sent them out/never got them?

FYI to those who don't go to the iPhone or Android threads, it's already announced that iPhone would get an app "this summer" and there are rumors that Android is getting it soon.
